Feature requests/bug reports
I hope I'm not treading on any toes in starting this topic but I thought it might be a good idea to have somewhere to post things like bug reports, feature requests and the like.
Should this be on a topic like this, or is it better to have a separate board for this?
Whilst I'm on the subject, is there a way of thanking (rec'ing) a post similar to TMF? I can see the "Report" feature, but no "Thanks".

Re: Feature requests/bug reports
Another suggestion then - it appears that you can only reply to the whole thread. What about the ability to reply to a specific post? Do people think this would be useful or confusing?

Re: Feature requests/bug reports
I think if you can reply to a specific post it might get "lost" easier on larger threads. Certainly on other forums I've been on where you can do this I sometimes miss replies to specific posts or somebody replies to the wrong post and you are left wondering who or what they are going on about. Can you tag people perhaps e.g. @chas49 or use the quote function instead?

Re: Feature requests/bug reports
Could I please suggest that you also take the lemonfools (plural) .co.uk address, particularly as the site appears to be called Lemon Fools (rather than Lemon Fool) and of course a google search just brings up a lovely desert ... And the .coms as well perhaps? ... Great work, BTW!

Good point - I think selective quoting might be best

Re: Feature requests/bug reports
My big feature requests are:
- Recs - already mentioned by others.
- The ability to have a list of favourite boards and see a summary of new posts on one's favourite boards only (as in Fool UK site) - mentioned by me in another post but added here as the official feature request thread.
And a sort of negative request - If recs come in then please make it recs only. In my experience downvotes tend to make forums less pleasant places and one thing that I loved about the Fool was that, at least on the boards I frequented, it was generally such a civilised, respectful and friendly place.

Re: Feature requests/bug reports
Well done on setting this up. Gosh, it's ages since I've used a phpBB board
A few things (which may already exist but I've failed to discover...):
a) Is it possible to have an equivalent to the My Boards panel and/or Favourite Boards list, to be able to see only those boards that one is interested in? The Board index page isn't too bad at the moment, but if we end up with even a quarter of the (non-company) boards from TMF, the Board index page is going to get pretty long. And if folks want to start adding company specific boards ...
b) Also similarly to My Boards & Favourite Boards, is it possible to show a New (unread) count for each board?
c) Is there a way (and, if not, can a way be introduced) to get it to show more than 10 replies per page? (I'm thinking a per-user setting, so those with better speed connections can see more in one go).
d) Is there a way (and, if not, can one be introduced) to, when one is finished reading new replies to a post, get it to directly go to the next set of new replies in the forum, without having to go back to the list of topics and choose the next topic with unread replies? (The TMF board facility was far from perfect, but the ability to "Next" your way through all the new replies in a forum was really good)
Anyway, cheers, and well done!

Moderators!
(ducks head!)
Often not welcomed on TMF, but a free-for-all will lose the TMF ethos, and it is TMF we are trying to recreate here.
OK, they will have to volunteers, but if the user community agrees the rules and the mods stick to them, then hopefully users will be more receptive?

Favourite Boards.
There is a watched board functionality - don't know how it works.
Click on your username at the top right (below search box) and user the control panel. Have a fiddle!
My signature is not working!!

Thanks. Took me a while to find it so for others it is at...
Control panel/Overview/Manage Subscriptions/Watched Forums
Haven't had a play yet so no idea how close to the MF favourite boards it is though.

Re: Feature requests/bug reports
So is phpBB the final solution? Because if its not... migration of some of these posts will have to be considered, and that could be awkward if phpBB doesn't support the essential features people have come to expect (recs, favourites and remember last position at least, I'd also hope threaded view of replies too).
There are other forum softwares around, Phorum looked interesting and nicely customisable to look like the old boards and there is YAF that looks nice too, but is there any hope the MF software could be obtained (as Open source perhaps)

You can bookmark posts, click the spanner symbol at the top, then against your name (very top right) you can then access your user control panel - and see your bookmarks.
hope that suits requirements

Re: Feature requests/bug reports
to go to newest replies, click the circular icon to the left of a post, not the post name itself.
If anyone knows the inner workings of phpbb more than me (which isnt hard) please feel free to suggest addons or settings that will help.

Can each post be assigned a unique post number?
Can't have landmark chases without.

Re: Feature requests/bug reports
If you look just below the picture top left, see "quicklinks" and the burger symbol.
New posts, unread posts - all looks useful. Would be fab if it worked in conjunction with all boards or if you prefer just your watched boards, the latter giving functionality similar to TMF.
perhaps a "mark all read" - I would have expected that, but maybe I have overlooked it!
Plus I can't seem to figure out how the unread posts function works. When I clicked on it, I'm certain it highlighted threads I though I had fully read.
Anyone?
