Hi,
Thanks for all your help and advice about Andalusia. We had flights booked, but nothing else when my father became ill and sadly passed away in January. We are now thinking our February break might be better being simpler and more relaxing, rather than travelling between Spanish cities and towns.
So what is tenerife like? Is it all beach and booze or is there culture, quality accommodation, and decent sightseeing?
Thanks

Re: Tenerife?
In the south there is virtually no sightseeing other than the the volcanic Mt Teide. You can take a ferry to nearby islands but that is about it. If you don't like the beach and surfing there is not much to do. I haven't been to the north but gather it is greener and cooler.

Re: Tenerife?
If you pick quality accommodation you can have a nice, hopefully warm, relaxing break. Plenty decent sightseeing/walking, but not a lot of culture.
Puerta de la Cruz is the least sun/sea/sangria resort/city, but is in the north so weather is less reliable. For better weather you need to be in the south, but as far away from Los Cristianos and Playa de la Americas as possible (in either direction).
Madeira might be worth looking at, its "vibe" is probably what you're looking for.
Scott.

Re: Tenerife?
Lanzarote is great. Lots of nice 'Sunflower Guided' walking. The volcanic park, interesting rockpooling on the north coast. Fantastic cactus park. The grotto. Manriques volcanic house and museum and his wind art all over the island. Markets. Great cycling. Keep away from tbe Lanzagrotty tourist strip which is crap and find a nice Finca inland somewhere like Tinajo.
