Sorry to be bearer of bad news, but I was idling googling for Fools who haven't been around for a while, and discovered this about pje16 who told us a while back he had Motor Neurone Disease:

About Paul - @pje16
5 October 2023, 20:29

... Paul has sadly died from a chest infection

https://forum.mndassociation.org/forum/ ... paul-pje16

RIP

Scott.

Real shame.

I'm assuming he was the same pje16 who was active in the BMW world. There are photos out there if anyone wants to search.

How very sad, thanks for enlightening us. Rec duly given even though it seems vaguely inappropriate.

It feels like only a few months ago he first turned up here although were I to check, I suspect it would be several years.

RIP Paul.

That is a real shame. He did not strike me as being that old. Although it is probably crass to say so that may be a better way to go than with the effects of MND.

He was always sensible and thoughtful in his comments. RIP Paul.

Gone, but not forgotten.

That is sad. He only joined TLF in 2021 but was a prolific poster with over 6,000 posts, which we might infer is a measure and reflection of his enthusiasm for our community.

In the last couple of years we have lost PinkDalek, Gengulphus, PJE and presumably others who just vanished. That is the fate of our demographic but no less sad for that.

Another prolific poster - who hasn't posted since the 1st of August - is AF62.

I hope he's OK but have to accept that he may have been overtaken by illness, or has passed.

Another is BobbyD, nearly 8,000 posts but none since April 2023.

I have seen quite a few new names on these boards recently, which is good. One or two might even be name changes.,...

I thought that too, but a Google search revealed he's been recently active on Twitter as @AsleepInYorks, so presumably nothing to worry about.

Good chatting with you Paul - Rest well.

He made a few posts after his diagnosis but not recently as far as I know.

Disappeared in a puff of smoke. :|

Mind you, a perusal of his last half-dozen emails suggests that he was chafing to be free of people with whom he disagreed. Mission accomplished, perhaps?
