Re: Air Partner (AIR)

No time to look but the results were finally announced at 5:45pm (post close): https://www.londonstockexchange.com/exchange/news/market-news/market-news-detail/AIR/14068864.html Don't seem too shabby. No skeletons and a modest Divi increase. As a result, the Directors are proposing a final dividend...

When my Father was 49, I sent him a card that said "Does thinking of your age make you feel IL?"

Unfortunately he didn't make it to 99, where I could have improved it slightly (with a bit of artistic licence)

I see Carillion is down to 7.2% short from about 25%. Might be worth a nibble if it carries on like that. Someone must know something....

More seriously, I too hold VOD, but see no reason to be nervous - in fact topped up recently. Not everyone will agree, but that's what makes a Market.

Re: Travel costs for hospital visits

Similar to what Kiloran is saying. There are various location-based volunteer car driver schemes. They act as a taxi service, but the drivers are volunteers in their own car and you only pay fuel costs. A lot cheaper than taxi options and also door-to-door, with the drivers often knowing where the s...

In Bourton-on-the-Water, Glos. there is a small maze called the Dragonfly Maze (next to Birdland). It is owned and run by my other half's family. The maze and the clues you solve whilst wandering around were designed jointly by a family member (similarly creative) and Kit Williams and the final surp...

Re: The Show Must Go On - the Grand National

I guess that what I was also failing to enjoy, besides the horses and the betting, was the crowds, the noise, the heavy drinking and the endless networking that seemed to be everyone else's reason for being there. As it happened, what I also missed that year was the sight of a couple of footballers...

So, yesterday I received a reply from the Solicitor effectively saying "Thank you for your email and I note your comments. Those are our charges and we believe they are competitive locally." Mandy Rice-Davies moment really! didds Indeed, but if it makes them think twice the next time then...

Re: Is a website really necessary?

I've built a few websites, but not for others. Here's my 2p, for what it's worth. If you are still looking for new Clients, then yes, for the cost of the Hosting each year it has to be worth having one. If you have enough direct clients and new ones via referrals to keep you going to retirement, the...

Re: Solicitor's fees during Probate

Thank you everyone. I've emailed the Solicitor (who is away this week according to her email autoresponder) and will update you in due course. I've asked for effectively a 70% reduction in costs (allowing for the ad valorem to be dropped and a reconsideration of the actual fees) so wait my turn in c...

Solicitor's fees during Probate

My father died in February and as my mother is not financially savvy and my sister and I could deal with it but are both busy in our own lives we have agreed to appoint a Solicitor to manage the Probate process. This is what we have decided and I am not looking for suggestions that we can do this ou...

The lady may be in the public eye but I have no idea who she is. Dod Likewise. And perhaps rather rich in years to meet the OP's description of a "celeb"? Perhaps more 'National Treasure' than 'celeb' nowadays, much more talent than today's bunch of celebs - famous for being famous. Other...

And when you were asked whether you would - if necessary - use the third degree, you replied that you hadn't been to university. It is reasonably well known that Prince Charles is a fan of the Three Degrees. I recall an episode of Week Ending ( Radio 4's satirical l take on the news) with a report ...

No need to de disconcerted AP, said gentleman has been dead a long time. I only heard about this at the funeral of his son, another somewhat eccentric gent, apparently he also wanted his ashes fired from the cannon but his wife decided she'd rather have him fertilizing her roses. Takes all sorts :D...

Pets at Home (PETS). Mkt Cap 740M Yield 5% Whilst you can buy most of its product online with other retailers, my OH (who is an avid Amazon shopper) buys our dog's stuff from there. You can pick it up, feel it, sniff it etc. so some immunity to the online march (and it obviously sells online anyway)...
