Re: Why is butter so expensive.

The high price of butter was predicted 3 years ago ,due to fewer dairy herds as farmers quit as a result of a fall in milk prices, although wholesale prices rose around Europe due to a shortage of milk and cream.

Re: Tory MPs are Liars (says Tory MP)

It is said that if a lie is oft repeated by enough people then it becomes accepted as the irrefutable truth.

Politicians seem to prove the adage.

Re: A Mondegreen

In the mid '60s a mother wrote a letter to a magazine saying that one day, while busy in the kitchen, her 4 y o daughter came and asked her ," Mummy, what's ubay ?" Perplexed , mother asked where she had heard the word. " On the wireless. A man was singing ' I've got ubay' ".

Re: How much?????

Never mind. Console yourself that petrol is 15% cheaper ( pro rata) today than 50 years ago. We use a lot more of that than stamps. Also VAT is less than half the purchase tax rate in the '60's.

Re: Scam phone call

I've reduced nuisance calls by 90%+ ,by activating the answerphone facility. My OGM states that I won't pick up unless a message or number is left but that I'm listening . Friends and family have been warned to announce themselves . Cold callers don't leave a message , or number as these only make o...

Re: Walker's Crisps

I don't think the problem will be solved unless a tax is imposed on products packed in plastic ,thereby placing the cost of disposal and recycling on the purchaser. After all, you don't pay hefty tobacco tax unless you buy cigarettes or tobacco, so non-smokers can avoid it. I notice that in supermar...

If you don`t write " The man broke hi`s leg " , you don`t write " The dog broke it`s leg".

You use " it`s " as you use " can`t ,don`t , shouldn`t, wouldn`t ,couldn`t " to indicate missing letters.

Barber shops.

Just had a flyer through the front door advertising yet another barber shop ,when already there 7 barbers within a ten minute walk from home . In the town centre, a mile away, there are almost as many with more opening. It seems to be an epidemic that threatens to outnumber the Bookies.

I notice the last few stragglers in the sky today as they prepare to leave as their 91 day sojourn is up. Each year they arrive on about May 2nd and are gone Aug 2nd. This year there seems to be more of them , having heard their youngsters screeching behind their circling parent , a sound largely re...
