Re: State Pension Forecast is COPE deducted from your forecast?

Just remember that the online estimate should not be relied upon and a paper copy should be requested. Not true! Both the online statement and the paper statement that are requested at the same time will be the same value. The DWP are very clear in their warnings that these are estimates only. The ...

Re: Aberdeen Getting is a Bit Busy

Two answers to that, the younger ones just see working in the Oil Industry as the job they are doing today and may well be working in any other industry in the future. Just like you lodger. The over 45's that saw the Oil Industry as a "Good Job" up to around 2014 and like that generation t...

Re: Aberdeen Getting is a Bit Busy

Update after another few months on Aberdeen. The busier time is still here with most companies busy and others not so busy. General feeling is that the small increase in workload is staying about constant with contractors taking on some younger labour that cannot demand high rates but no step change...

Re: Voluntary Class 2 NI 2018 2019

We did a bank transfer to HMRC, 4 June as advised above and today, 11 June, the £171.40 payment is showing as being in her HMRC personal tax account and it will be credited in January 2020 according to the site. There was a small amount £18.00 of tax to pay on Gift Aid as no PAYE tax paid last year....

Re: Voluntary Class 2 NI 2018 2019

Ok, I have been meaning to get in touch with the PAYE helpline to pay the voluntary Class 2 NI contributions but it is always too busy and auto disconnects. At 8:00am on Monday 3rd June, I got through to the HMRC PAYE helpline and advised that there was an issue getting Class 2 voluntary payments to...

Aberdeen Getting is a Bit Busy

At the moment and for the past few months Aberdeen is getting a bit busy. With the service companies scared to take on new staff or longer term contractors, existing people in these companies are finding it difficult to get all the work requiring done, finished at the end of the day. As yet most ser...

Re: Query About the 25% TFLS

Some schemes want you to take the 25% tax free lump sum in one go.

Have you read the rules of your scheme or talked to the pension provider as to what what the rules of the scheme advise.

Re: Pension Tax Code

She has a pension from her previous work for the local council. She has a pension from a SIPP. They should both have a tax code against them. I believe you are thinking about the state pension which for her is not in payment yet. Agreed when her state pension comes in to payment it will not attract ...

Re: Voluntary Class 2 NI 2018 2019

Just checked the other forum. This is the reply.

I managed to speak with an advisor at HMRC. They said to submit the return as is (ie with no calculated NICs), then give them a call after 3-4 days and they will enter an amount manually.

I will do that.

Re: Voluntary Class 2 NI 2018 2019

I don't think I ticked a specific box other than ticking the box at the start of the return to add the self employed page to the return. I will look for such a box. Someone on another forum has got the same issue.

I will report back later.

Re: Voluntary Class 2 NI 2018 2019

It's getting worse the, trading income of £150 declared for some trading to allow the application to pay Voluntary Class 2 NI is now being taxed and the calculation sheet is advising that "The Class 2 NICs amount is not available" Lets hope it is just an error from 2017 that is rearing it'...

Voluntary Class 2 NI 2018 2019

There seems to be an issue with the Self Assesment System for 2018 2019 Added the Self Employed pages to the good ladies tax return. Filled in all the pages including saying it was only to pay voluntary NI with trading income less than £1,000. Assed the income and expenses for the trading. Finaly go...

Re: Has oil price topped out?

Forecasting the oil price is a mugs game!

Therfore I suggest that $70 to $75 a barrel is as high as it will go until it gets either higher or lower.
