Re: Visa Card probs?

Several days later the pin worked in another shop.

After that the pin then had trouble in Asda again and the lady behind the counter said that Asda had equipment problems with Visa.

The truth finally emerged!

Visa Card probs?

My Nationwide Visa CC didn,t accept the PIN at the ASDA till on Wednesday despite having just bought petrol earlier with it. The contactless worked.

Today the PIN didn,t work again but the contactless did at ASDA.

Didn,t ASDA and Visa have a problem a while ago?

Re: Selftrade Errors

My I.T reg purchase was OK and I received the relevant KIID document message.

I suspect they intended us to agree that we have read the KIID document before they allow a buy.

It,s a bit ropey though isn,t it?

Running Heart Rate

I quick look at training heart rates suggests working 50% of maximum where maximum is 220-Age. This would compute at 75 for a 70 yo and 78 for a 65 yo. These figures are incredibly low and I find it hard to believe that it is possible to "run" at such a low HR. Can anyone actually do this?...

Vanguard ETFs (Exchange traded funds)

A previous thread (New IT selection) suggested Vanguard All World High Yield fund (VHYL) as an alternative to the likes of City of London IT (CTY).

I notice that it operates in USD though.

Can I buy it in small amounts in a self select ISA and it pay out divs just like an IT please?

Re: New Gas Cooker - no Oomph

To finish this story off, we had the new substandard spec. cooker removed and hopefully will be reimbursed. The company that provided this took some dealing with involving many many phone calls and missed appointments. We instead found a small Belling gas cooker (different make) which has been fitte...

Where is my Tax Return HMRC?

I did my simple online return on 10th April.

Today is 18th April and the site says "no forms etc... have been received".

Re: My current outlook for dividends

A number of years ago I bought small amounts of a number of top individual company shares to make my own HYP. Plotting each share against CTY enabled me to sell some when at a small premium to CTY. However the dogs that I still have are BP., GSK and UU.. These rascals have dropped relative to CTY an...

Re: New Gas Cooker - no Oomph

Looking at a few different gas cookers, the reviews seem to say that the oven takes a long time to cook.

Also that the top oven/ grill doesn,t perform well.

I reckon they,ve been dumbed down to use less gas and claim to be more “efficient” but not effective at cooking.

New Gas Cooker - no Oomph

Are modern gas cookers designed to use a lot less gas such that they seem to take a long time to cook anything?

Maybe like vaccuum cleaners which are a lot less powerful now? Saving the planet or eco something?
