Re: Medical dilemma?

I had my first flu injection Fluad last Saturday and from Thursday night have had a very sore throat and runny nose. Last night was diabolical as I could barely could sleep with what felt like a red hot poker down my gullet. Temp. is 38.1. I hope I feel better soon with the paracetamol and throat pa...

Re: Alliance Trust Savings taken over by Interactive Investor

I have just received a nice letter of apology from Alliance for the email from ii telling me my bank details had been changed.

They should have said that data was being transferred from Alliance to ii, not that the bank details had been changed.

Re: Alliance Trust Savings taken over by Interactive Investor

It's reassuring that it was ii that sent that stoopid email making us customers very worried about theft.

However the feeblist of minds could have written it better eg.

"Interactive Investor has now commenced transferring data from Alliance"

Re: Alliance Trust Savings taken over by Interactive Investor

I have just received an email (3 Oct 19) from ii telling me that my bank account details have been changed! They haven,t. According to the ii site I will not be able to see any trans...

Re: Alliance Trust Savings taken over by Interactive Investor

I too feel strongly about this necessity for a mobile phone number.

Surely the landline phone companies see this as an illegal restriction on their legal trade?

Re: Running Heart Rate

Since looking at the data provided by "weath" I have been running 30-60 mins a week at 127 bpm which is the long slow figure. I am supposedly going to get faster over time at this bpm but so far I haven,t speeded up at all. However, I take the point of avoiding the dead zone between 127 lo...

Learning Investment Apps

The recent Moneybox radio 4 program mentioned the above and it sounded interesting. They said that investment in stocks was almost unknown to most people and especially women seemed very unwary about it all. This is incredibly sad despite attempts by governments over several decades. Millions of peo...

Sanditon technical error

Jane Austen's 'Sanditon' shows two chaps doing a respectable front crawl swimming stroke in the sea.

This stroke was first observed by Mr Trudgeon in 1873 in Hawaii.

Jane Austen died in 1817.

Re: Visa Card probs?

Several days later the pin worked in another shop.

After that the pin then had trouble in Asda again and the lady behind the counter said that Asda had equipment problems with Visa.

The truth finally emerged!

Visa Card probs?

My Nationwide Visa CC didn,t accept the PIN at the ASDA till on Wednesday despite having just bought petrol earlier with it. The contactless worked.

Today the PIN didn,t work again but the contactless did at ASDA.

Didn,t ASDA and Visa have a problem a while ago?

Re: Selftrade Errors

My I.T reg purchase was OK and I received the relevant KIID document message.

I suspect they intended us to agree that we have read the KIID document before they allow a buy.

It,s a bit ropey though isn,t it?

Running Heart Rate

I quick look at training heart rates suggests working 50% of maximum where maximum is 220-Age. This would compute at 75 for a 70 yo and 78 for a 65 yo. These figures are incredibly low and I find it hard to believe that it is possible to "run" at such a low HR. Can anyone actually do this?...

Vanguard ETFs (Exchange traded funds)

A previous thread (New IT selection) suggested Vanguard All World High Yield fund (VHYL) as an alternative to the likes of City of London IT (CTY).

I notice that it operates in USD though.

Can I buy it in small amounts in a self select ISA and it pay out divs just like an IT please?

To finish this story off, we had the new substandard spec. cooker removed and hopefully will be reimbursed.
