Err... "Democracy" and the rule of law are not what YOU think they ought to be. Fortunately.

Re: Brexit all over?

Not convinced he is, if the UK crashes out of the EU with No Deal then right now sentiment in Scotland seems to be that it will vote to leave the UK. Now if that event takes place maybe the mood up here by then will have changed, a week is a long time in politics, but I would certainly not dismiss ...

Russia and China are in effect Empire building, (their Empires, with them as masters), whereas remainers want us to be a subservient part of someone else's Empire. No. Remainers don't want anything of the sort. This whole "someone else's Empire" is no more than a fantasy in the mind of so...

Re: Brexit all over?

vrdiver, The truth of what I have said hurts doesn’t it, because you know it is true. The daily bombardment of anti Brexit propaganda by the BBC was and still is obvious for any fair minded person to see. As I said before, with an even playing field, Leave would have won with an even greater majori...

Re: Brexit all over?

It is no surprise the Remain contingent does not accept this, even though it is from a high priest of Remain. But I will not waste more time on it as Remainers will never accept what he said. He said what he said and it contradicted a major accusation from the Remain camp. No need to "accept w...

Re: Failed electrical cable. Is there a physicist in the house?

If a Hozlock EasyClear (model 3000?) it produces a fountain and also pumps water around the pond through a filter. https://www.hozelock.com/product/easyclear/# This seems to leave plenty of scope. Probably uses a single motor/pump for both functions? So perhaps blocked filter = higher fountain? Or n...

Re: Failed electrical cable. Is there a physicist in the house?

It seems only likely if there had been a short-circuit in the cable or at the pump motor. Also, an electric motor, if stalled or slowed through mechanical resistance, will take a heavy current which could account for the burnt out cable. I wonder why the water fountain was higher that usual. Was it ...
