Re: ERI tax to be paid before tomorrow

So I bought some VVAL (ETF) which has accumulation units. I looked on the Vanguard site and could find nothing that said I would be taxed on the income received by the ETF, but not distributed. I have now looked much harder and found that the undistributed income will be taxed (as income), which ra...

Re: ERI tax to be paid before tomorrow

Well I topped slice a share in my HYP that had done very well and used the cash to bed and isa other shares which ended up with moving the cash from the top slice from within the ISA to my taxable account. This brought my taxable dividend income below the £2000 dividend allowance but left me with a ...

Re: 'Seeking advice on HYP construction' - 2

The only one of those selections that sets off alarm bells is MKS. MKS have over 10 of stock shorted. This is enough to scare me away. Thanks TUK yeah I was 'umm-in' and 'ah-in' over MKS on my last 2 purchase days as I'm not entirely convinced by MKS and so didn't purchase. That's an interesting po...

Re: Retirement imminent - diversification dilemma

I have high yield ETFs, IAPD or Asia/Pacific and IDVY for Europe (happy with both) and EMDV for emerging markets - this hasn't been so good as the dividend has not been growing. Income focused ITs for the relevant regions could be just as suitable.

Re: ITs and Stocks in a HYP?

At the moment I have high yield shares and high yield ETFs in my HYP. The ETFs cover areas I'm not happy buying individual shares in (non UK markets). I have EMDV, IDVY, IAPD to cover emerging markets, Europe and Asia Pacific. Not that happy with EMDV as its dividend has been falling rather than gro...

Re: Voting nominee shares

I wished to make one vote on one company on a specific issue. A 'one-off'. Getting communications about every one of my holdings for all AGMs and EGMs is most certainly unwanted! You actually should be making two votes - one in the EGM (which requires a 75% majority of shares cast to pass) and one ...

Re: SSE - Trading Statement

Good job BATS & IMPS were up ~6% and ~3% today ( along with increases in BP, RDSB,GNK, PFC* and GFRD*)... more importantly, there has been no mention of "cut" w.r.t. dividends. * not common HYP shares I know! I hold both, Petrofac is up ~50% including divis and GFRD is up ~10% includi...

Re: GALLIFORD TRY - ANNUAL RESULTS STATEMENT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 2018

Cut from 96p last year (32p and 64p)....and after we were tapped for money to cover off additional costs on the Aberdeen peripheral route. Yes a cut on last year, but I took up the rights and my dividend in cash terms is slightly increased on last year (for an approx. 14% extra cash payment). Share...

Re: Accounting for the Carillion loss

Carillion still appears in my spreadsheet. Each share has its own page with details of purchases, sales corporate actions etc, and it still also appears in the summary page, but is greyed out as I no longer own it, with a comment in the notes section that it went bust. It has a share price of £0.00 ...

Re: income progress

I've not been adding new money this year and I have some cash from a top slice and dividends still to reinvest - I'm trying to get my unsheltered dividend income below £2000 so some money may stay in cash or might get invested in a value based ETF until next tax year when it can go into my ISA. Even...

They paid 3.6+6.4 cents last year for a total dividend of 10c This year they are paying 4.3+6.2 for a total of 10.5c plus a 3.0c special with the interim for a total pay out of 13.5c. So they are a little unusual in that the interim is up, but final is down compared to last year, and the special may...

Re: Logging onto Interactive Investor?

I had no problems this morning logging on (IE on Windows 7). I did find that my old TD link to the logon page stopped working a couple of weeks ago, and just says service disruption, I'm assuming the redirect has now ceased, but I found the correct II logon page without problems.

Re: Legal & General Half Year Report

That's another problem: too much in one sector. It seems that financials have been too attractive in the past couple of years. Mind you, many fund managers of stalwart ITs don't baulk at having 30% or so financials. I was bitten in the past. I held a decent tranche of financials just before the fin...

Re: Legal & General Half Year Report

This is a company which has done very well for me over a long time, and I might even have a further top up before this XD. My reservation is that I already have an investment of around 1.2x median: but since this is one of my "winner's" maybe that's not a bad thing.* One of Dod's stalwart...

That's the worst sort* - I own both and both fit the description for me. Unfortunately one has turned £17.50 into £1.00 and paid not a lot in dividends; the other has turned £4.25 into £23.50 plus it has paid more than £4.25 in dividends over the period. I just whish the starting values had been th...

Very possibly. But how does that modify my point? Only in the sense that it was commented that an annual statement would be much more sensible than qtrly statements (I think so too) and that I think we are lumbered with qtrly statements because the regulator says so. I agree the statement is pretty...
