Re: John Laing Infrastructure Fund (JLIF) Bit of a bargain?

Try Regional REIT, RGL. A screaming income bargain right now. Very out of fashion, hence the poor recent share price performance. Really, I have way too much in RGL right now, but just feel that dividend four times a year. I am now entirely out of UK infrastructure and utilities. This week I dumped...

Watch this space.

In this sector, John Wood is behind a new service company start up called Texo Group. Keep an eye on this one if it goes public.

Re: John Laing Infrastructure Fund (JLIF) Bit of a bargain?

Any of them float your boat Fred'? Trying to find a few income ideas for my ISA's. Have been derisking my SIPP from hi yield and buying Fundsmith shares direct. Try Regional REIT, RGL. It isn't for me until I know we are not getting a Labour government I'm afraid.

@Dod, nope. I have plenty of time time for Nick Train. Though I do not hold any of his portfolios since it would IMO, be too much like Fundsmith which I have a large stake in.

Re: CPU Upgrade

One last thing. Make sure you know how to recover if the firmware flashing fails. Good luck. The instructions say that there is a jumper on the mother board. If I get a power cut while I am flashing, using that appears to be an alternative method of flashing the same update. Terrific, that's someti...

Re: CPU Upgrade

Good luck. To be honest, an SSD will make the biggest difference to the PC. Much more than the other changes you are making. In fact, I would recommend you do that upgrade first, irrespective of the CPU and memory additions.

I have no problems using the log in details I have always used. Maybe it is the recent migration accounts that are affected?

Re: Currency Exchange for Japan

I worked for a Japanese company in the 1990s and made frequent trips to the Tokyo area and once to Fukuoka. Even then Credit cards were widely accepted and I carried a few thousand yen for small purchases which I had got in the UK. I was not too fussed about rates as it was paid for by my employer....

This link says that I need BIOS version 0010 or later: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/305784-28-intel-d945gcnl-core-e6700 When I go into the BIOS, the first heading on the Main page is BIOS Version. It is blank, which is not very helpful. Processor Type and all the rest are populated. Less tha...

Re: CPU Upgrade

Intel says do not update the BIOS unless you are having a problem: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/17000/BIOS-Update-NL94510J-86i- But it will tell you the latest version, then you can check what you have and what bios version support is required by the CPU. The CPU may well drop in and w...

Re: CPU Upgrade

Yes, I have done it several times, though not that recently. If you check and recheck the compatibility, there should be no problem. New CPU cooler is pretty cheap but don't forget the thermal paste when fitting it. One thing I would do is to check that the motherboard has the latest available firm...

Re: Is this bit of kit the right thing for what I need?

Would something like this fit the bill? It's a DVD player so ticks the first requirement. It can access the internet via your wifi, so gains access to Netflix and other on demand services. Now TV is a separate service, although it also uses your internet connection. You have to think in terms of wi...

Good on you. FWIW I never use my real DOB or home town on social media. Sadly, alas, just about everything you need to know can be found out about me on companies house's website. Not a great idea, but not a lot I can do about it, I don't think.

When I have had this happen, I find the best way is to use the Windows 10 media creation tool and do a manual update to the latest Windows 10 version. It worked on a couple of occasions for me.

Re: Best way to sell expensive Longines watch

A lateral thought. If the watch was half price and presumably is hallmarked 18 carat or such like, how about weighing it and see approx how much gold value is in it? Long shot perhaps, I don't know.
