Re: IanTHughes HYP - June 2019 Top-ups

Maybe a stupid question but if you are purchasing two companies each month and purchased Standard Life this month and also intend to purchase next month why didn't you purchase a double slug of Standard life in one go and save on the dealing fees? Not a criticism, I just wondered what your rational ...

Re: Greene King

They are one of my star performers having risen by 10% last month on the back of good Christmas trading figures. According to my records the dividend cover is 2.9 but that could be an anomaly in my spreadsheet so please check with your own sources. I have been considering a top up but in my opinion ...

Re: A new HYP candidate?

A very interesting thread and an interesting potential alternative investment.

I have heard of Tritax BBOX but not Warehouse REIT so did a bit of investigation. The yield appears to be only 2.45% for WHR is this correct? If so not really a good income play.

Am I missing something?

Re: Petrofac ( SFO)

I also lost money on Carillion mainly due to doing nothing and hoping for a recovery, learned a valuable lesson there !. But I don't think there is any suggestion of false accounting with Petrofac and the owners the Asfari family have major skin in the game holding over 18% of the company. My unders...

Re: Petrofac ( SFO)

I agree with you and also didn't claim for my Tesco shares. What I was trying to say is that the legal action may not come to much and Petrofac seem to be taking a stance against it. My understanding is that the claimants will need to prove that the sales manager acted with the knowledge and approva...

Re: Petrofac ( SFO)

I think in the end Tesco only paid out £101m if I remember correctly which was a lot less than originally claimed, don't know how to check this though and I may be wrong. I have just checked the short positions on short interest tracker and Petrofac are 6.18% shorted as of today against Marks and Sp...

Re: BHP special dividend

Well, it has helped me a little, because my January income was actually down on January 2018 - after this is may be marginally up.

Arb.

Possibly the Sainsbury effect - they paid their final dividend in December this time round. Normally January

My original comment was more to do with portfolio diversification as sector wise they are not in one of the usual suspects.

BAE systems (BA.)

For those looking for some extra diversity in their portfolios I notice that the yield for BA. has today hit 4.6%. I originally purchased them in 2011 for about 300 ish and they have offered a steadily rising dividend since then and performed incredibly well. This is the first time in ages that the ...

Re: Dod's farewell.

Although I rarely post I read the boards every day in particular the HYP board. I agree that a level of moderation is required as I also follow several other sites, some of which without moderation have a large percentage of their posts degenerate into abuse between posters. On the other hand I appr...

Re: BHP Notice of 2018 Final Dividend and AGM Dates

Does anybody know what the final dividend is ? the value is not mentioned in the release.

The interim was raised to 55c from 40c.

Last years final was 43c so I am hoping that this years final has been increased accordingly but cannot find the data.

Thanks in advance if anybody knows

Regards

Dave

Re: In the red with Imperial Brands!

Further to my earlier post I have today dipped my toe in the water as the price dipped below 2500 and the yield now approaching 6.85% by my calculation. Not sure if my timing is any good but then I never seem to be able to time my purchases to best effect anyway :(

Re: Unilever Announcement

I have heard - without any qualification that the main reason for the move was due to the Heinz bid last year. This shook the board and they don't feel that HMG provide enough protection to companies subject to hostile takeover bids - whereas they will have much more protection in the Netherlands. T...

Re: In the red with Imperial Brands!

To bring this back on topic, I really feel the pain of the current investors here although I am now seriously starting to consider a stake in IMB with a view to treating it as a 6% bond (similar to GSK really), I never bought into tobacco previously as always thought it was overpriced for an industr...

Standard Chartered Resume Dividend

Not sure if many here still hold Standard Chartered (STAN) after they stopped the dividend. I still kept mine as they give exposure to Asian markets, They announced today the resumption of dividends OK a measly 11c per share, however the board stated their intentions to increase the dividend and it ...

Re: Land Securities (and Hammerson) versus British Land

I'm going to come a bit late to the party as I normally prefer to lurk in the background. However your post regarding Hammerson (HMSO.l) interested me as I have also been looking at them recently. Their share price is dropping as they have announced an all share merger with Intu properties. The argu...
