Re: Legal employment question.

The correct line of attack is firstly through the company's internal disciplinary system and ultimately via employment law. The behaviour was harassment regardless whether it was in the first or the last minute of employment. I don't understand this response. Person A has left and has no recourse t...

Re: Watching girls dance

As one of the worldwide female contingent ( ) I prefer this, the Enya one lower on the thread. It never fails to make me smile. The two versions just prove that some dance routines can in fact fit many songs. https://mobile.twitter.com/flashboy/status/768773799244333056 (I can't work out how ...

Re: Danny Baker fired by BBC over royal baby chimp tweet

That is exactly what you suggested. It's how you interpreted it, not what I said. Mel Quote attribution fixed - Itsallaguess The same reply could come from Danny Baker, ' the problem is in your mind and not in my intention/actions '. But he hasn't been judged on that, he was judged summarily guilty...

Re: Danny Baker fired by BBC over royal baby chimp tweet

I don't understand your point, please could you make it more clearly? Are you suggesting there is no racism at football matches? When did you last go and see Millwall play a team that had black players, just out of interest? Mel I'm not asking you to justify my words, I'm asking you to justify your...

Re: Danny Baker fired by BBC over royal baby chimp tweet

If Millwall played in most football matches and threw bananas at black players in every game that might be relevant. Neither of those is true. Your stereotype is outdated and derogatory. Feel free to justify it with facts and figures. I don't need to justify YOUR strawman, feel free to respond to m...

Re: Danny Baker fired by BBC over royal baby chimp tweet

But, for reference, try watching almost any football match with black players. Do you think the bananas are thrown as a convenient mid-match snack? Do you think only black players get hungry mid-match? Talking about out of date and offensive stereotypes... I don't understand your point, please coul...

Re: Danny Baker fired by BBC over royal baby chimp tweet

Disregarding the issue of potential racism, if he'd tweeted a picture of any celebrity couple using a chimp to represent their new-born baby, wouldn't that be also really offensive to the baby's parents? I thought publicly mocking celebrity (or anyone's) kids was out of bounds too. He claims it was...

Re: Danny Baker fired by BBC over royal baby chimp tweet

I thought it was just very funny and was perplexed at the 'racist' tag at first. How on earth is it racist? Surely this speaks volumes about the people who first started squeaking about it. I'm not a great watcher of the Royals so may be a bit out of date, but I have never, ever thought for one mil...

Re: Marathon runners `harrassed'

Today's polite euphemism is tomorrow's ghastly faux-pas. I seem to have got away with "disabled" above. Yes disabled is OK, but not brilliant. The key for me is to listen to people and ask how they would like to be referred to. I don't even mind if men want me to call them 'she' or 'her',...

Re: Marathon runners `harrassed'

"handicapped" Mel OK, serious question: What is the politically correct term these days? Disabled? Impaired? TIA, Watis Odd though it may seem, I cannot take your question as being serious when you use 'politically correct' as the identifier. Politically correct simply means - the...

Re: Marathon runners `harrassed'

Our walking group probably averages 2.5 miles an hour. We don't get lost (thanks to the organisers doing recces beforehand), but we do stop to have a drink (ignore then 30 mins lunch stop) and for the group to come back together as a large group splits. On Wed after work we did 5.5 miles in about tw...

Re: Marathon runners `harrassed'

Perhaps the organisers should put a time limit on - say 5 or even 6 hours - to qualify as having run the Marathon. Otherwise it would seem that anyone could claim to have run it, even if it took them a couple of days! Am I being unduly harsh? They do, it's 7.5 hours. They have an official 7.5 hour ...

Re: Pension sharing on DB scheme on divorce

Re paying for advice - has anyone actually said this is needed? It would be the DB scheme that would require (or not) evidence that advice has been taken. I think the scheme can insist that the pension credit is taken as cash transfer (ie the option to have pension membership instead is a permitted...

Re: Pension sharing on DB scheme on divorce

That’s a pretty hefty pension pot imo by any standard. It's probably still allowed to raid the pension asset for cost of advice. In the days of commissions there was always something for the adviser. That is a possibility if she needs advice on what to do with the money. But why pay for advice on *...

Ok I was rounding up the pension sums a bit, 125+340 = £465k. That’s a pretty hefty pension pot imo by any standard. I think she’s probably going to be ok :? Does she need to sell the house and find something cheaper? It sounds a difficult situation to help with. good luck..... It's not £340k it's ...

Re: PAYE and SA

I feel your pain, like Pochisoldi I *hate* my tax code reflecting last year's incime (etc, because it changes every year and they always get it wrong. I don't mind that so much, after all, even I don't know what my annual income will actually be until the end of the tax year. So using last years fi...
