Re: Killing Eve

Yeah, sorry for giving a full response. There are millions of people who still only watch broadcast TV. I know several. My parents, for example. But I can't name all the rest. But my answer was mainly to say that while I use catch up I am normally *behind* the broadcast speed, rather than ahead of i...

Re: London Autumn Social -possible dates

There is nothing to prevent me making any of those dates, except that I don't work in London any more, so I will just decide when you've chosen a date, depending on my workload and location on the day.

Re: It's shopping, Jim...

What a bunch of old miseries you all are! Let people wear what they want to wear. I am 50 and have some ripped jeans. You do know that the low slung men's trews are actually designed like that? That they are not just dropping down, they have lower crotches, and some even have what looks like an unde...

Re: Killing Eve

Yes, me. I don't have a PVR. So things like This Is Us, which is on late, I watch the next day on catch up. So broadcast speed but a bit behind. Soaps I watch 'live'. I have no method, or desire, to access things in advance. No Netflix etc. Killing Eve, like a few BBC shows, was put up as a box set....

I know, you didn't say anything. I disagree with you about the end but can't explain why without using detail!

Re: Killing Eve

TBC... I understand that there may have been a need to allow a follow-on story, and I'm glad that this is likely to be the case, but I just think they did it in such a ham-fisted way. The final ten minutes felt so different to the earlier writing, and so poorly done, that I thought it as really qui...

Re: lump sum taking pension at 55

One most definitely does not need a financial advisor to discuss the USS pension scheme. That would be a total wasted of money for the question being asked. It's not our 'best guess from Googling', many people here have very detailed pension knowledge and some of us have even been in the same scheme...

Re: Killing Eve

Oh, another good show worth adding is No Offence. First two series are on Ch4 catch up and third series is about halfway through. Some great characters and acting. I'd say this show is a bit underrated.

Re: Killing Eve

I've just binge watched this and found it fantastic - funny, sexy, clever. Bit silly but it wasn't supposed to be true life. Some real laugh out loud one-liners. I found Bodyguard more serious so was less easy to suspend disbelief and was always looking for the problems with it, of which there were ...

Re: Snogging - betrayal or not?

Interesting stuff from his girlfriend. She said Sean phoned her on the night of the snog to say he was going for a drink with Katya, and when she questioned the appropriateness of this, he aggressively accused her of being nutty, and he's apparently done this before when questioned. Unsurprisingly,...

Re: lump sum taking pension at 55

Hi Melonfool, would you be prepared to reveal a bit more about your transfer out from USS? I would be interested in when you did this and what multiple of annual pension you got. Thanks I've got no problem sharing but it's not really relevant. I was only in it nine months so there was such a small ...

Have you puu the info into there: https://www.ussbenefitmodeller.co.uk/benefit_conversion I'm surprised you say the phone call didn't help, I always found them very helpful (I transferred out). Try again maybe and hopefully get someone better. Test out the wording of the questions to ask on here fir...

I have recently been forced to open a Santander current account. I'll leave you to guess why!

If I get a chance I'll find a way to provide this feedback in the place it might be most effective.

OK. You asked for it, on your own head be it! (Though, in fairness, this may not be a typical example of PCness) In case it matters - I had a boss who didn't understand those instructions and found them very confusing. I guess it depends how you were taught originally - if the only way you'd heard ...

But you are right that this isn't just about a woman's point of view, and in fact I read recently that 25% of victims of domestic abuse are male. It's higher than that. There has been much discussion over decades regarding the number of male victims vs the number who are willing to report it. And y...

Re: Snogging - betrayal or not?

Well, I am shocked. I have never even thought about another man when I've been in a relationship, let alone snogged one, or anything more. And I've never married any of them in the first place (thank god). One ex said to me once "if you got drunk and slept with someone else, I'd forgive you&quo...

Look, I can find it unlikely that she would abandon her friend like that and never even ask after her. That's her testimony. It's either true or false and I believe it to be false. That has no bearing on victim blaming. Look, it's my opinion that your comments are victim blaming. What if it did hap...
