Re: selling Asda cashback vouchers

If people are not selling them on eBay there is no market for them!

As it appears you print them yourself, perhaps the reason is you would have to be very trusting of the seller.

Re: Are Smart meters compulsory?

There must be better things to spend £20 billion on! I completely agree. I really don't get what the benefits supposedly are, and from the information out there I can only conclude there are not benefits for me and quite likely dis-benefits. From what I have read the supposed benefits are - More ac...

Re: Cabinet agrees Brexit agreement

The sooner that the 30th March comes around and we leave with just mini-deals, and then get on with negotiating a trade deal the better. I can't see any of the players wanting to be in charge when that happens, as the blame for the fallout which will occur from a 'no-deal' Breixit would fall on the...

Re: Cabinet agrees Brexit agreement

A no-deal exit is the alternative, and surely the motivator for MP's to lose their petty pretensions and support this deal as the least bad option and fairest compromise between the extremists. A no-deal exit was never an option and is still not because there is no possibility you would get Parliam...

Re: Cabinet agrees Brexit agreement

A second vote is only needed if May can't get the deal through Parliament. It would be a vote on HOW we leave, and not WHETHER we leave - we already made that decision. "Shall the UK leave the EU with the proposed deal?" A no vote means leaving without any deal. Could not be simpler. Why ...

Re: Wireless room thermostat

I've been googling prices and the cheapest I've found is on eBay at £100 for the CMT927 (Listings go as high as £179!!) and £68 for the CMT727 model. Where did you get the £70 price from AF62? Apologies, Google failed me and had included the CM727 in its list of CM927 results and I wasn't paying at...

Re: Does gross stupidity come in threes?

I have found that beggars target me a lot more if I'm looking scruffy than if I dress in a suit. I suspect the fact that a suited man is likely to be richer than a tramp or student is more than offset by the fact that he's also much more likely to be tightfisted. Undoubtedly, but these days I suspe...

Re: Faulty Bathroom Who is responsible

Interesting that because I had a similar situation with another shower manufacturer and they sent their own rep to take a look and eventually solve the problem. For me it was their suggestion to use WhatsApp to show the problem that I thought was interesting, and saved them needing to send anyone t...

Re: Faulty Bathroom Who is responsible

Your claim is with whomever you bought the cabinet from. If you paid the fitter for the cabinet, your claim is with the fitter (i.e., don't follow the money any further than the entity you personally dealt with). The retailer or manufacturer may help you (and, in some cases, it may be easier or qui...

Re: Fitted wardrobes question

As I said, my problem is that looking at the quote, it does not specify anything in detail. They did not have the LED system fitted in the wardrobe we looked at in the shop so we have never seen the system. It seems to me that we have a contract with them to provide, "LED sensor lighting"...

Re: Wireless room thermostat

I fitted a Honywell CMT927 to my house and used it for about 15 years (I had to replace it once due to the receiver failing) replacing an old fashioned thermostat in the hall and moving the sensor to the living room. It was an excellent piece of kit, dramatically reducing heating bills and at the sa...

Re: Fitted wardrobes question

They say they made a mistake with their quote and had only quoted for the power transformer and the lights and had omitted to quote for the different side units and shelves needed to accommodate the lighting system. They could fit the full system but it would require a complete dismantling of the w...

Re: Boiler repair and repair insurance.

What disincentive might the manufacter's engineer have in concluding the latter, when such a repair would mean they make zero profit from the insurance? Has anyone had a policy like this and on the first call-out been told the boiler is beyond economic repair? I'm trying to get an idea of how this ...

Re: Insulating cold water tank in the loft

My tank is on a platform about 3 feet above the joists – should I insulate both on the underside of the tank platform and on top of the ceiling directly below it? Or perhaps box in the sides of the platform, leave the bit of ceiling below it uninsulated, and allow a bit of heat to escape through th...

Having discussed putting in b/band "just in case" they have refused. ... In the event of "an emergency" and me dashing up there ... what options are there for "immediate" and short term broadband provision so that I can work? This is of course presuming that at THAT ju...

Re: Online storage

Whatever you do, please ensure that the online (cloud) storage is not the only copy of the data, as there are a number of tales of people having access to their data suddenly revoked. Either Microsoft or Google (can't be certain which) has done this to people's thesis, shortly before submission was...
