Re: Mary Queen of Scots

also including black men in black with black beards I thought that was one of the few interesting things in this film. There was no silly attempt at historical justification, it was just a straightforward colour blind casting. Just as I was bracing myself for another hour of Mary's plotting in Engl...

The negative is they look terrible, particularly where the panels join and the (often) nasty trim used.

Third and most heartfelt Grrrr. Without so much as a by your leave, as I discovered yesterday, OneDrive has automatically uploaded all my most confidential files to the cloud, where all and sundry could probably hack them. I am no Jennifer Lawrence, but my private finances are my affair and nobody ...

Re: Worst film ever?

What's the worst film you've ever seen? to kick things off, Holmes & Watson is my choice. I saw first 20 minutes of it a couple of days ago. Incredibly unfunny and dumb comedy. Even though it would be free for me to see (Unlimited card), I gave it a miss. I don't mind 'big, dumb, fun' films lik...

Re: Selling houses and cctv

A neighbour is having cctv installed to the front of his house and understands that he has to get my agreement and that of his neighbour the other side because our frontages are quite narrow. I don't believe they do require your permission. If the cctv does capture images outside their property tha...

Re: Best films of 2018

You really have seen a lot of films! Helps having a Cineworld a few minutes drive away to go with the bargain value Unlimited card, so I tend to go see pretty much everything whether I think it will be any good or not. If it does turn out to be utter rubbish I can leave without it having really cos...

Re: Best films of 2018

Favourite film - 3 Billboards in Epping, Missouri. Drama with black comedy, clever writing and Oscar-winning performance (for 2018) from Frances McDormand. Best of the rest - A Quiet Place. That rare beast - a film that's both genuinely original and good - which reminds me of a review probably by O...

Re: Car hire in Mallorca

There are two ways to book a rental car - - Direct with the company - Through an agency site such as Holiday Autos If you book through an agency you will probably get a cheaper price but if anything goes wrong, well good luck getting the agency to sort it. Small company vs Big. Luck of the draw. Som...

Re: No income tax without a second vote

I saw a huge, fair democratic vote, well conducted in the main, with both sides given ample opportunity to make their case to the nation. You see conspiracy and fraud. Whereas I saw a democratic choice executed by millions of people freely. Now I see your ilk doing down the popular vote and it sick...

Re: No income tax without a second vote

There is no reason to revisit the decision the people already made, otherwise by that argument all referenda would be an endless series of votes rather than the "one and done" thing they are supposed to be. That principle would mean the UK should always remain in the European Community as...

Re: Suggestions for new sim-free android smartphone?

I have a Moto G4 and it's a good phone, with some minor downsides. ... It also does not have a magnetic sensor, however how many people use them? You won't notice it but a magnetic sensor is very helpful if you use the map application to navigate on foot in town as it allows the application to get ...

Amazon dropped the price of the twin packs of the BT Whole Home WiFi this morning, down from its usual £125 to £85, but no idea how long it will stay at that price - https://www.amazon.co.uk/BT-seamless-connection-everywhere-complete/dp/B07643DVCT/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1542810759&sr=8-4&am...

Re: Broadband extenders and wifi extender

Thanks for that AF62. It looks interesting. Does that extend the exisiting Wi-fi - i.e. you don't need to switch from one network to another when you go upstairs - the SSID is the same? Also does the second unit just plug into a power socket? Yes and yes. They are designed to 'hand over' the device...

Re: Broadband extenders and wifi extender

Also, the wifi from our BT Homehub is not great in parts of the house. I'm going to get in touch with BT to see if there is an option to get a newer model which might improve things, but am also looking at wi-fi extenders. The newer versions of the BT Homehub are better - I have the latest BT Smart...

Re: The Xmas exodus this year, >+< London, dates?

Friday 21st will be by far the busiest day, with people getting away before the weekend. However Saturday 22nd will also be busy due to a combination of those who decided not to or couldn't do Friday, plus more traffic on the roads for those mad fools out shopping for Christmas. Sunday 23rd won't be...
