Re: Interserve open offer

i held both carillion and interserve some years ago , but got out in good time when i realised that high yield alone is not good enough to avoid serious damage to capital - and hence future income.

Re: Microfocus an HYP share?

i think this was a good software company .

but buying bits of HP , which itself made a dodgy acquisition in autonomy seems to me a bad idea.

many many years ago there were two small companies - microfocus and microsoft .

sadly i didnt buy either .

you are fortunate to get a diagnosis, so you can take meaningful action. its a very serious business , so many illness's can arise , and hips and knees can be in big trouble. its about diet and exercise. for the latter i think walking is best - not just pottering but BRISK - half an hours 3 times a ...

Re: Vodafone

The yield is ridiculous and clearly signalling trouble. The trouble is, that that statement could apply to many companies at present, so what are we to do? - except sit back and wait? From my own HYP, these are all of similarly high yield (over 8%): CNA BAT SLA PSN AV. IMB BHP All to be written off...

its quite easy to point out flaws and risks with most of these HYP candidates.

that is why they are high yielders - they carry high risk.

in our quite old house , much of the (solid) wall plastering had deteriorated . i have used traditional pine cladding , simply nailed straight on with panel pins . we find it very good , easy to paint , very easy to hang or move pictures/mirrors etc. and an extra layer of insulation - looks and feel...

When I started out as a graduate trainee programmer in 1981 I remember pointing out to the Project Manager and Lead Programmer that these programs wouldn't work in 2000. They laughed at me saying, "Don't worry about that - no-one will be using this software in 2000!" Who was laughing in 2...
