Re: A strategy for Remain to win

Our FPTP system rewards a certain amount of geographic concentration of votes. If you come second in a lot of places all those votes are wasted. How many other elections can you name where a party won the popular vote in England and lost the seat count, let alone lost it so dramatically? {/quote] 1...

Re: A strategy for Remain to win

Labour got a lot larger share of the English vote than the Tories in 1997 and 2001. They did get a smaller share of that vote than the Conservatives in 2005 but it was pretty close (and as you stated they still managed to get 92 more seats in England). That to me is the outrage, not a mitigating fa...

A majority of what?

More English voters voted Tory than Labour in 2005. Labour won 92 more English seats than the Tories in 2005.

Re: Musk endeavours

You do realise that the Clean Air Act prompted the move from coal to natural gas for domestic heating. The recent urban pollution problems may be better addressed by a switch from diesel to CNG for urban transport. At least two bus companies have given up hybrid diesel in favour of CNG on cost grou...

Re: Brexit all over?

What evidence? As Clegg explained, the information shared with Select Committee. BobbyD is accused of not accepting facts supported by evidence provided via the select committee. I don't see BobbyD stating anything remotely resembling this on the current thread. Unsurprising since I never wrote any...

Re: Brexit all over?

Strange you don't believe anything else he says, but hold this to be gospel though. I say strange, I mean hilarious. But you accept all of his opinions based on his view of what may happen (well I guess you disagree with him on the existential threat CUK pose  ) but seemingly do not want to ac...

Re: Brexit all over?

If you accept the substance and only wanted nit pick on the choice of language fine, the substance remains, which is at least progress. Your choice of language means that what you said was not the same as what he said. Again Vice President of Facebook claims there is no evidence Facebook was compli...

Sir Nick added: "Much though I understand why people want to sort of reduce that eruption in British politics to some kind of plot or conspiracy – or some use of new social media through opaque means – I'm afraid the roots to British Euroscepticism go very, very deep." https://www.theparl...

Re: Brexit Party Challenge plebiscite result on grounds of corruption

They are within the 21 day limit. This is the right legal mechanism to challenge an election result. It's more the irony of the Brexit Party challenging a result where as yet there has been no finding of illegal conduct whilst simultaneously maintaining that the outcome of a vote in which there has...

Re: Tory Leadership candidates

The Evening Standard has now published an apparent papparazzi snap of Boris and Carrie looking all lovey-dovey in a countryside setting. They claim it was taken on Sunday, but Boris's hair is a lot thicker and longer than at the Saturday hustings, so either he's wearing a wig, or he uses a magical ...

I'm surprised nobody has wondered what it was serial philanderer Boris had on his laptop that he didn't want his partner to see.

Brexit Party Challenge plebiscite result on grounds of corruption

The Brexit party is to launch a formal legal challenge against the result of this month’s Peterborough byelection, where it was narrowly beaten by Labour, claiming that allegations of corruption connected to postal votes need to be investigated. Nigel Farage, the party’s leader, insisted the challe...

As an elected party position unaccountable to the party leader deputy leader offers Watson a perfect high profile perch from which to undermine Corbyn. Resigning the position would be madness.

Re: Tory Leadership candidates

Just a thought, but if you were concerned about your neighbours' safety (in the context of a domestic row) and had called the police, would you really record the content of their dispute... If you believe a crime is being committed against the person of your neighbour not taking the simple step of ...

31 year old Carrie Symonds is the former Conservative Party director of communications (i.e spin doctor) and a very ambitious lady. Boris on the other hand is completely unambitious, a hard working individual dedicated to the anonymous fight for the good of his fellow man and untouched by the desir...
