Froome, Thomas and (hopefully) Simon Yates compete a British clean sweep of cycling's Grand Tours.

Great picture

Re: New neighbours!

I recall when the fairground came to our town and they were due to set up in a car park on the seafront. Finding a small van parked in what should have been an empty car park, about a dozen of these lovely people surrounded the van and proceeded to 'bounce' it out of the car park. Quite funny to wat...

Re: 2008 Financial crash

Wikipedia is always a good starting point. There are various links pointing you in the direction of, say Northern Rock, bank runs, lehmans, the Fed, subprime, quantitative easing and so on.

It's easy to while away an evening once you get started.

Re: Reasons to be glad summer's over.

Its been so dry this summer, I think I've only cut my grass twice this year.

Brilliant.

I'm not a lover of hot or cold weather. My ideal temperature is around 15-18 degrees.

Re: Ten years ago this week

Well that was most enjoyable - it was even better second time around.

To be honest though, it was an extremely boring subject to try and make a film out of. Margot Robbie nekked in a bathtub explaining a mortgage backed security definitely helped though.

The Big Short is a good movie that covers the 2007 US housing crash, which led to the Global Financial Crisis.

I think I have it kicking around upstairs on a disk. Maybe I'll celebrate the ten year anniversary on the 15th with a viewing.

A common phrase among us young lads at school.

Urban Dictionary here I come. Be careful. Urban Dictionary is a superb resource (?), but it did introduce me to the meaning of the world's most disgusting word. 6 letters. Starts with 'F' Also, I'm surprised to see 'cl***e in there. I know what it's intended to mean, but I always thought it was a w...

Lehman Brothers collapsed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lehman_Brothers Those days on the Motley Fool (particularly the Banking board) were some of the best posting times ever on the old site. Not because of the dreadful (financial) carnage that followed on from Lehman but for the sheer quality of ...

Re: Crucial Memory Scanner

I think you can still upgrade from W7 to W10 for free, even if officially it has stopped

Hunting around, various places seem to confirm this. Would an upgrade to W10 make any difference to the speed?

Re: Crucial Memory Scanner

Should run pretty well on 4GB. If not, probably needs a good spring clean (or re-install, if easier). Scott. Yeah, it runs alright - not super quick, especially as the software gets more complex. I've always had great results in the past with doing a cheap upgrade such as installing more RAM, so I ...

I tried another one from 'Mr Memory'.

My machine has 4gb installed. According to Mr Memory, I can't have anymore because of my W7 32 bit operating system.

Oh well.

Crucial Memory Scanner

I think I need to chuck some more memory into my desktop computer. In the past, I've used the Crucial scanner, which is a small download from Crucial.com that scans, then reports back what memory upgrades are available. I've downloaded it and when I run it something pops up and then vanishes again. ...
