Re: LA Speed Check

Lockheed SR-71 "Blackbird" Mach 3. I think it remains the fastest jet plane ever. Out of commission now I think.

Re: The Football Season 2019-20.

Well City didn't mess around did they? Palace look feeble against Everton, that said, the wind is not helping the game one bit. Going by the comments on CPFC's fan's website, Palace played well and should have won (Benteke!). I was going by the BBC reporting - obviously a Palace hater. It's an impr...

Screen size

In Windows 10 and for some reason the screen size seems to have increased. The vertical adjustment bar on the right on most pages is now out of view. Altering the Dis[lay setting doesn't seem to correct it. I'd appreciate some guidance.

Re: Ashes 5-0?

The thread title refers to the previous Ashes contest in Australia but judging by the mauling England are getting at Edgbaston, it might be equally apt for this series. England don't have anyone anywhere near Smith in his present form. Lyon looks better than any spinner we can lay our hands on. Thei...

Re: Ashes 5-0?

Before we accept the fact that Steve Smith is too good for our bowlers, perhaps the decision to play a not-match-fit Anderson should be reviewed.
I was very impressed with Jofra Archer. His extra pace and ability to vary it, may have just made the difference at Edgbaston.

Re: Present ideas for friends in the US

In the light of recent events, may I suggest a bullet proof vest?

English mustard - make their eyes water.
English sparkling wine - bit pricey but has beaten Champagne in competition.
A recording of some outrageous British TV - comedy like 'Mock the week' or '8 out of ten cats do Countdown'.
A photo of BoJo with caption 'See we're as dumb as you...'
Maltesers.

Ireland bowl out England for 85.

Well who'd have thunk it! The English batsmen are probably in shock over BJ as PM.

How the middle class ruined Britain.

Was this programme just a wind-up? His sole bug-bear seemed to be that MC parents went out of their way to get their kids into the better schools. While the WC (presumably) couldn't be arsed. So that, with a touch moaning about location gentrification, was his justification for the daft title of the...

The Open

Once again Rory has crumbled under the weight of his own and other's expectations. He needs to be told to relax a bit and have a 'I'll give it a good go' attitude instead of feeling he should win. Koepka is remarkable. Saves his best for the majors and looks again set to do well. He's my probable wi...

Re: AppleId creation problem

I resolved that particular problem. It was followed by an avalanche of further problems ending in a loop. All I can say is: be very careful if you decide to restore stuff to your iphone from Itunes. I thought it was just music, but it restored an old appleId with an email address which no longer exi...

AppleId creation problem

My blood pressure is now critical..... I'm creating an AppleId for my daughter on her Iphone. I fill in all the fields and get to the verification code bit. When I get the code I've lost the page where I can enter it. I'm right back at the start of the create process. How do I get the Verification c...

Re: Cricket WC final

Not a memorable WC final until the last over. There seemed a total lack of urgency on both sides for a lot of the match. Maybe they both wanted to lose?? Definitely a bowler's wicket though. dp I suspect you're not a cricket buff. Of course both sides were trying their best but for once the bowlers...

Re: Cricket WC final

That was simply gruelling - no fun at all. Bowlers on top all the way. England had the luck - sorry NZ - but England win. Was that great TV? I really don't know. It simply could not possibly have been closer - rather like the tennis. What a day of sport.....

Rather nice quote from SB: "If nothing else he can tell his grandchildren that he aced Serena Williams on the centre court at Wimbledon".

A feat indeed.

Disappointment shield raised.

I have no expectations for the English team tonight. Decades worth of frustration now leave me in no doubt this is as far as it goes.
The girls 'done great'* to get to the SF, so well done them.
