Re: Would welcome feedback regarding nearing-retirement portfolio

Hi, just a quick reminder that HL’s SIPP fees are capped at £200 if it contains just ITs, shares and ETFs. Something to consider as they are very cost effective when in drawdown.

Re: Investment Trust Income Portfolio - Year 1 Review

What is it worth today after all last week's turmoil? I normally only do a proper valuation at the end of each month, but this piqued my interest. The PF is down 1.5% from the end of July. The FTSE100 is down 4.4%. As I mentioned above, the PF tends to outperform a falling market and underperform a...

Re: Investment Trust Income Portfolio - Year 1 Review

What is it worth today after all last week's turmoil? Less. Exactly the same in income terms... (its primary objective) ;) Spot on! Honestly, I hadn’t checked the value since month end. It’s down about 1%. The PF tends to go up less than the market when it’s rising, and down less when it’s falling....

Investment Trust Income Portfolio - Year 1 Review

This is the first annual review of our real-life Investment Trust Income Portfolio (“the PF” hereafter) which helps support mine, and Mrs MP's, retirement. The PF's initial construction, and a half year report from the end of January, can be found here: https://www.lemonfool.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=8&...

The OP may find my real life Investment Trust income portfolio of interest. It is influenced by the John Baron portfolios, amongst others. Its formulation is described here:

Re: No-look November 2019

That’s quite right, Itsallaguess. It may well be that we’re too SCARED to check on our investments, leading to “No Look November” by default! :)

(I still doubt we are actually going to leave the EU btw, but that’s a different topic entirely.....)

Yes! If we do in fact Brexit on that day, I defy anyone to go through the next month not checking their portfolio......

Re: SIPP Natural Yield (Dividends)

It's a shame really, I'm just trying to automate the extraction of money from the SIPP so that I don't have to remember to do it later when too old to remember (could also do an annuity then I guess….) You could just build up a bit of a cash buffer in it, then set up a regular monthly drawdown that...

Re: What return are you targeting?

I’m targeting initial income of 5% from my collection of Investment Trusts, rising with inflation thereafter. I'm pretty much with Mickey, but would add that I'd like to avoid capital depreciation and ideally see modest growth. I believe that the capital would appreciate broadly in line with the in...

Re: AIC Income Builder - Free Virtual Portfolio Tool

I’m loving this tool. It’s great to see the upcoming dividend values and payment dates once declared. Also, to get a feels for what’s going to be paid out in upcoming months based on last years actual.

I have all of my retirement income investments in ITs and this is a great help.

Hi Trent I’m in no way promoting my own portfolio as being suitable, but you may get some insight from what someone has actually done in this area in real life. https://www.lemonfool.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=13160 I posted a six month review here. https://www.lemonfool.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=8&a...

Once again,I’m glad you’re back.

Re: Considering SIPP

My wife and I both have SIPPs in drawdown with HL. They contain only Investment Trusts so we benefit from the £200 cap. There are no admin, or annual, or other fees such as changes of instructions or ad hoc payment fees.

The service is superb.
