Re: phones with compass

As regards generally turning the phone off, I guess to me it's like all the other things which use power. I turn them off when not needed as it seems the "natural" thing to do. Why pay for power you don't need? You might want to look at how much power is consumed in a reboot. Some of the ...

Re: Hattrick Season 72

You've got the league sewn up - I'd go PIC in your shoes. I split the difference and PIN'd. If this game was predictable, it'd be boring. Actually, it worked out ok, my opponent CA'd as expected, which they are divine+1 at, so you would wouldn't you? 84% possession chances to me, and and both our d...

I would guess no, otherwise they would. That's nature for you.
They don't lay down fat for winter, as they migrate they catch food on the wing. If they stayed here, there would be nothing to eat.

My daughter has a Huion pad that she plugs into a laptop, seems to like it a lot. It's about A4 size. Sorry, I don't know the model number.

Re: Hattrick Season 72

Week 13, unlucky for some, namely, my opponent. ;) I think they were 6th before the game, we were away. I studied their recent games, and they have monster wing attacks and often AOW, and I figured as I often go 2-5-3, if they were paying attention they'd definitely do that, and if they weren't payi...

Watched Baby Driver at the weekend. On Netflix.

Stylish, great use of music, car chases, guns, violence. I liked it.

Is it though? Most couples I know fell in love with someone, not their things. Maybe I'm lucky.

Re: The future of the planet.

I think the youth of today have a different solution to overpopulation and saving the planet. Yes, large numbers are going gender neutral or some other flavour of "not straight" and won't be procreating anytime soon. As this trend accelerates around the world, expect population collapse. ...

Re: Thomas Cook & CAA

DAK why the CAA is chartering lots of aircraft instead of using Thomas Cooks planes and crews? Perhaps the airline owed a load of money to the airports for their slots, so the liquidators can't re-lease the TC planes as the airports won't want the handy collateral of an actual plane set against wha...

Re: Hattrick Season 72

Next week, at home to third place. They're more attack minded, like me, so it should be a goal-fest. Second are away to 8th who only have two points so far and are 11 points behind 7th, surely they must win that. Third place, clearly afeared of my awesome attack ratings(!) went from their usual 2-5...

Re: Hattrick Season 72

Now I'm torn - I could play the remaining fixtures as experience training and just accept the qualifier match, or go for 4th spot. Financially I don't think there will be that much between the prize money in 4th vs gate receipt in the qualifier. Any thoughts ? 5th: You will get a slice more experie...

Re: Emperor's New Clothes

Art. Noun. The expression or application of human creative skill and imagination. The slogans were made by someone using their creative skill and imagination, therefore, it is art. Whether it's "good" art or not is entirely subjective. And if someone pays £1000 for one of them, then it's w...

Re: Sound leakage from open-backed headphones?

I'm trying to gauge how much noise I might be making at 1:00am if I was listening to mostly blues/rock/indie/pop stuff at perhaps 90% of live gig volume. Will this sound in the room as if I have a desktop/bedside radio set at a low or at least reasonable volume or might it sound as if I have that r...

Re: Stupidly cheap car hire - how does this work?

We're heading off to Majorca for 10 days and I'm looking at car hire on HolidayAutos. It shows that I can hire a car from a few companies at £28 to £35 for the WHOLE TEN DAYS. How does that work? Are they companies that have a glut of cars available after the main summer holidays and want to get SO...

Re: Hattrick Season 72

During the week I've just gone a bit mad, nothing for ages and then two solid leadership CBs at once! Realising the 24 year old is actually probably a bit young to be converting to a coach in a season, and thinking he's still got plenty of time to get some experience, we splashed the cash again, on ...
