Re: Walker's Crisps

I can't help thinking, mightn't it be easier and cheaper for the system over all if the recycling machines were fixed, rather than the whole production re-tooled? The latter should be happening in the context of improving supply chains overall, rather than some narrow/artificial focus on accommodat...

Re: Any preppers here?

Storms of 87 was the worse I've experienced, power out in our village for 10 days, had gas, and luckily a gas oven, and only blocked in by trees for a couple of days, I've always been a bit embarrassed by the fact that I actually slept through the whole thing. I was an underpaid lab technician shar...

Re: Walker's Crisps

So are there three types of plastic? 1) The nasty type that lasts for a billion years and kills dolphins and condemns us all to fry in a hell of our own making 2) The recyclable type that you can't compost but can reprocess in some way 3) The "green and groovy" type you can throw on your ...

Re: Any preppers here?

I think there was a documentary about preppers in the USA on telly the other night, one of those Stacey Dooley things. This one family living on some fly blown ramshackle dump of a place that already looked like something post apocalyptic. They were of course armed to the teeth to defend their heap ...

Re: Tea in hard water area (?)

I was halfway through typing ' which bottled waters are soft?' - will try Highland Spring as a temporary measure ( I don't like using bottled water regularly, for green/environmental reasons...) Our water makes terrible tea apparently, so my missus uses the cheapest water in the supermarket for her...

Re: Walker's Crisps

Getting the issue into the public domain, associating the issue with the specific brand I think I saw some some "news" of a lass that made her graduation dress out of empty Walkers packets, to make the same point about unrecyclable packets. I've still not really forgiven them for putting ...

Re: Any preppers here?

We've had campfire discussions about it at explorer scouts, "if there was a zombie apocalypse..." The general consensus was crucial thing is going to be clean water, closely followed by being able to defend yourselves/your supply of water. As I'm a leader with no storage space in a scout h...

Re: Hattrick Season 69

The second half of the double header, and we're away to 7th, have a good look at the ratings and decide we can't be too careful, shipping two goals last week means they won't be on their knees confidence wise. We bought a new wingback during the week, as my main centre-back was injured, hmm, that ma...

I'm sure I can imagine what she means. Sadly.

Safe to say, it's not complimentary.

I'm guessing long straggly grey/white. The internet doesn't currently help on this.

And now I'm going to struggle to ever play mario kart ever again.

Re: Killing Eve

I quite fancy it but because it's BBC I think it'll be all PC nonsense thrust down my throat. Am I right? If not, I might give it a try. Depends what you mean by "PC nonsense". The story rollocked along, it had some good characters, some of which are women. I enjoyed it, it wasn't "h...

Re: Carrying a knife in checked in luggage

I have bought kitchen knives with a blade longer than 3 inches. Are you saying that I could have been arrested the minute I left the shop where I bought it? That doesn't sound right somehow. It is and it isn't. As far as I understand it, I'm not a lawyer etc. a penknife with a blade under 3 inches ...

Re: Hattrick Season 69

Halfway then! How we doing? I was at home to 6th, and reckoned I could get away with a PIC thanks to their poor midfield, and had to go 2-5-3 thanks to injuries in defence. It was a game of two halves, ritalin in the halftime oranges maybe, the first half ended 4-2, we added one more for a 5-2 final...

Re: The Beer You Are Drinking Right Now

Nice pint of Timothy Taylor's Landlord. I assumed as I was in a Green King pub that TT's had been taken over, but apparently not as far as I can work out. Good beer that. Then looking at the website to see who owned it, turns out it's a Yorkshire brew. Quite surprised it seems to sit in quite a fair...

Re: Is anything random?

Even asking a computer to generate a set of random numbers isn't totally random (can't remember the reason why though...). I vaguely remember it's something to do with having to start somewhere to generate numbers from, so it's within the bounds of possibility that the starting position is the same...

When was it? Last week I sell a mature but still decent defender to Bink while there's still a little value in him, sub is now my 37 year old player/manager, okay but poor stamina and skills are dropping. Yeah, you know what's coming, a +4 injury to my CD, at 33, I ain't speeding that up am I? Ho hu...

Had a nice pint of Darkstar's Hophead the other day, guest beer in a Fullers pub, turns out Fullers own Darkstar now. Oh well, so much for a "guest". Anyway, not complaining, kept well, tasted good.

Great? Train him right surely he's got U21 potential? Or at least on the fringes given it's week 5 now.
