Re: CD & cassette & LP costs

Probably more like they think people will pay £22 for the vinyl, so they sell it for that much.

And...cassette? Really? Wow. I thought that was deader than flared trousers?

Re: Sparrowhawk?

Almost certainly.

We had one take a pigeon at the bottom of the garden once, fascinating watching it dismember and de-feather it. Left nothing but the beak, and feathers. Great to watch.

Re: Large scale UK power cuts

As this is the snug, can I ask a series of possibly silly questions... These wind turbine things, people are saying they shut off when there's too much wind? How does that work? Do they "uncouple" the generator bits from the blades, and let the blades spin free? Or do they have to try and ...

Re: Mystery plant

Hmm, kind of looks like the leaves of a wild strain of Lavatera, or Mallow (common name). This can grow from zero to 5-6ft+ in the right conditions, is often a single stem, and it looks like the start of a bit of rust on the leaves, which isn't uncommon. That said, mine have been flowering for a mon...

Looks like in my 8th season in IV.15 I'm second in the standings, just 20 points behind 1st. I guess I'd better win the rest of the matches this season then!

Re: Hattrick Season 72

Tuesday and we squeezed through in the George Carey Cup 1-2. Looking at the stats, aaah, let's say if it was the proper cup, and I'd been in my opposition's shoes, I'd have been...miffed. 36% in midfield and 31/15/9% in attack...and I win 1-2? Hmmm. Out this week though for sure. Sunday we were away...

Re: Hattrick Season 72

Been away for a week, North Devon's nice innit? So it's double bonus report time for me. Week 4 we played a team we've shared the spoils with last season, but seemed a lot weaker this one, after the sale of a few midfielders. Though I guess my B team IMs are pretty strong now as decent trainees. Yes...

Re: Is the LemonFool a safe space for Remainers?

But seriously, would you like a safe-space? I think it would be a good idea if LemonFool tried to offer a judgement-free zone for those opposed to the referendum result, where they can safely be left to blow off steam, plot and scheme against democracy or whatever without bothering the rest of Poli...

Re: Hattrick Season 72

I thought the cup game was eminently winnable...1-1 on 20 minutes turned into 1-8 at full time. Job done. R4 looks a bit more even stevens, I'll get the best of midfield, so it *should* be okay, but I'm not counting my chickens. Don't think I can risk a PIC, I know, I know, it's the cup, but I've go...

Re: Hattrick Season 72

The election went well, and I'm still the England NT manager. Well you didn't get my vote! ;) I forgot completely about it. Cruised through to the next round of the cup. I thought this week was going to be fairly easy, at home up against a promoted team. Went with a B team midfield on a PIC, and wa...

Re: Brexit all over?

One important factor in this debate is being overlooked, and it is the rate at which the non European section of our population is increasing. For example, the average Muslim family in the UK has seven children, the average UK family has two children, so it will not be many generations before the i...

Re: Hattrick Season 72

First match away to the demoted, so a bit of a mystery. They have a monster defence and not much else, didn't have a lot of time or inclination last week, so it was put out my strongest 3-5-2 and see what happens. What happened? We missed a lot of chances, they CA'd, and we lost 1-0. Maybe I shouldn...

I understand that the French deliberately have a couple of hours gap in their midday timetables for a decent lunch so you don't have to rush the second bottle of vino and making love to the mistress. ;) As this is DAK, yes, they should have at least one lookout who will alert them (a tap on the sho...

I have a feeling that avoiding over-strenuous exercise is the key. Golfers seem to be particularly prone to suffering. Golf? You and I have *very* different definitions of strenuous! I mean, it's basically your steady walk, but stopping every 100yds or so for a rest. Mind you, it might not be the e...

Is it just me or is London (and the rest of the UK ) going to hell in a handcart?
