Re: I knew it

Heard somewhere that men in Europe, particular the French, shave their bums more than we do(anyone here guilty of this pleasure? BNC?) So the light shines out of the a-hole and less paper used. Absolutely not! You don't want a razor cut, or ingrowing hairs down below*. Give it a good wash, they don...

Re: American-ism lost on British?

"Don't wear a thong...." Australian for flip flops? One that tickled me was some american scout leaders I was talking to, who describe the type of camp where you load everything in the car and park very close to where you're camping to unload everything (as opposed to a backpacking camp a...

Is the goose still alive at this point? And do you wipe with the lay of the feathers, from head to body, or body to head, against the lay of the feathers?

Re: Forgive or Banish

Perhaps I should've said what actually happened for me to banish my best friend of 30 years but I can confirm that it was a huge betrayal rather than just 'I forgot your brother's name' and I honestly thought that when I confronted him with it, there would either be a huge fight, or he would collap...

Re: Routemasters

£500 - £600 I'm not too surprised to be honest. Me neither, you probably said the magic words "wedding" and added £100 to the price ;) I was in the ball park, as annually I hire modern double deckers for the day and they're about £450-500. They did actually send us a routemaster one year,...

Re: Hattrick Season 70

Opponent knocked out 347 hatstats which I totally didn't expect. Lost 6-1. Oops! I guess they're paying attention (not that I'm saying you're not!) and decided they could PIC everyone else, so hadn't really shown their true colours? Always very difficult to tell when someone's hiding their true per...

Re: Worst film ever?

Don't want to talk about the Hobbit. Now there's a trilogy that only needs to be, at best, two films. I'm pretty sure I saw something about a fan re-editing the whole thing to do exactly that, which is a bit extreme but.. And Harry Potter might be up there were it not for the fact I've never manage...

Oh yes, admittedly I was just watching at home, but Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice I think I lasted 20 minutes, maybe even half an hour, before thinking "this is pointless and stupid" and turning it off.

Re: Worst film ever?

We, in my callow teen youth, a friend rented a video from the local garage called Savage Beach. We sat around drinking beer and watched it. That became the benchmark for bad films amongst those that were gathered. But it wasn't a big Hollywood production so can it be excused? Do B movies count? Appa...

Re: A Festive Break

I know that some people have extended Christmas breaks but, really? Slightly worried now that my choice of Wedding reception venue has gone tits up, by which I mean bankrupt. Stop worrying. No, wait, it's a wedding, everything must cause worry, them's the rules. I don't know if they do Christmas pa...

Re: Hooked on Classics

I never got into them Mel, but my first cousin from Hawaii still travels all over the world to see them play: half a dozen dates in the UK in 2016, NZ last year. Don't understand it myself -- must be a girl thing... It's not, though that sort of antic doesn't surprise me, I saw them 8-9 years ago a...

Re: Hooked on Classics

But try telling a teenager now that music these days is rubbish and they should be listening to music from 50 years ago. I suspect you will get a flea in your ear. As people used to say 50 years ago. Yeah, quite rightly too. What makes the 60s/70s right and everything else wrong? Nothing. And they ...

Re: What do you do with your Xmas tree?

Popped it down the local park, legitimately. Collection spot from the local council, they shred them and use them on local parks and gardens. It was £35 for a 6' Nordmann from a local scout hut. Might be more than standard but man they need a new scout hut so I don't begrudge it. Lovely tree and it ...

Re: Hattrick Season 70

At home to 5th this week. Looked like possession was going to be even, maybe a shade to them, but their attack is awful, so I went 2-5-3 to try and make the most of any opportunities I did get. True to expectations we had 48% in the first half, but went 1-0 up. In the second half, I said their attac...

Re: Tips for Visit to London

I appreciate tastes/interests vary, but if you were away from London for a number of years, where would you most want to go back to visit/dine? A number of years? How many? If the last time you went to the British Museum it had an open courtyard, go there. Not only is the building from the outside ...

Re: Hattrick Season 70

Christmas day we gave our oppo the gift of another round in the George Carey Cup. ;) They had stonking defence ratings so despite 67% possession and chances being 11-7, we went down to an 87' counter attack. Hey ho. Meanwhile in the league we were away to 5th, no mugs, and checking out previous game...

Re: Hattrick Season 70

At home to 6th this week, and they looked PICable, so we went with a standard 3-5-2, and while it was only 1-0 at the break, we ended up cruising to a 4-0 win. No injuries, no cards. We're top of the league, but only on a +6 goal difference. We play 5th and 6th over the next four weeks, while second...
