Re: Stamp Duty Land Tax

But the OP already owns property that has not been disposed of. Therefore the 3% surcharge applies.

I guess you can send hmrc £6750 and they will just ask for the rest.

Re: Stamp Duty Land Tax

I agree with your solicitor, I still think your SDLT bill will be £16800 as you already own property......

Re: Stamp Duty Land Tax

I take the view that virtually anything that is handled by central Government will be wrong, requires careful scrutiny and cannot be relied on. My wife on the other hand takes the opposite view and doesn't understand how it's even possible for the Gov to make a mistake. If you already have a propert...

I don't think any cars are sold on the basis that they will keep you dry.

Re: Windscreen frost covers

Of course, putting the car under cover or in a garage will save all the faffing around with jugs of warm water on a cold winters morning........or you could move to Essex where the weather is always better......or perhaps not Essex is already full.

Re: Parking - tandem spaces

Yes it's personal choice. One aspect not touched on so far is one of security......of the property, not the car. If you leave your car outside its very obvious when it's not there which might signal that your not at home and might attract an opportunist burglar. If you usually put it in the garage.....

Re: Windscreen frost covers

We tried one on a Mercedes A Class about 5 years ago. Does it work.....yes, BUT......they are a total pain in the a**e to put on every evening (we needed 2 people to do it properly) and to take off in the morning ( you have to find somewhere to put it....in the car ain't an option). In the end we re...

Re: Parking - tandem spaces

I accept days of snow, most years, are very few but low temperatures and ice are with us for many more. If you are happy to de-ice your car every day instead of putting it under cover.....that's your choice. Many others, it seems, just don't have that choice because.. 1. They don't have a garage or ...

Re: Parking - tandem spaces

Putting a car to bed every night is very little effort & takes but a minute or two. In winter that time is paid back tenfold by not having to scrape ice off the windows etc. 6 bed houses in my area tend to have 2 or 3 car garages. Of course cars can cope with being left outside.....they just cop...

Re: Parking - tandem spaces

John, if you can't get your car in the garage because bicycles are stored there it does rather suggest your property is to small for your lifestyle. I'm sure you could arrange a bespoke storage elsewhere on your estate in which to keep your bicycles......perhaps with the helicopter. I guess it's onl...

Re: Parking - tandem spaces

Does anybody actually keep cars in their garage these days? John Yes. In our street, some 22 houses, I estimate about 11 garages are used for cars. I should think it depends a lot on where one lives and how much ''stuff' one has compared to the number of people residing and the number of rooms in t...

Re: Parking - tandem spaces

`Does anyone keep cars in their garage these day's ? I hear people ask this question all the time. I am also aware that some convert the garage into living space or utility room or something they consider useful. I would never buy a property that didn't have a usable garage. If you have an older, co...

I don't get it .......London to Manchester is only 2 hours on the train now. What's the problem with that ? It's fast enough already.
London to Blackpool is also 2 hours.

It's usually awarded to a world champion/ team perticipant.......we don't have many of those this year.

Might as well give it to Lewis Hamilton......he's delivering consistent world championship performance year on year.....and has got a personaity which seems to be a prerequisite.

It's all a terrible shame but what upsets me more than the demise of the Rainforest is that so many people in the 5th largest economy in the world just don't understand why Brazil is doing it.

Have you considered that it might not really matter.......the Rainforsest is burning and we are all probably doomed. The end is nigh and one aftersun bottle isn't gonna make any difference to the final result.

By this time next week ......when nothing will have been done ......we will have lost another 10080 football pitches. If the world want ...

Why do you think it doesn't make sense ?

Clearly Kensington is more desirable & therefore more expensive than Collier Row.
