I don't know about you, but i find these jokes about Jo Brand to be rather corrosive

A police spokesman has said he can't be positive Jo Brand will be charged…

it’s split the nation, this issue. People are poles apart.

Word has it she’ll end up in a cell.

Re: Uber Eats

Got handed a flyer this morning for the above company with a £10 discount on first order, so thought it was worth a look. HYD . Total Charge £27.48 While you're in the market for wasting money, might be worth having a look at Deliveroo: https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.deliveroo.co.uk

(Any company that uses the phrase 'reaching out' deserves nothing but contempt)

The phrase is old hat…

Re: Who owns the high street?

But I hadn't imagined anything like a register, more if there were something like a report somewhere with an overview of commercial propcos and pie-charts showing their asset mix (high street or retail being one category). try this: https://www.bpf.org.uk/sites/default/files/resources/PIA-Property-...

I wonder how often the information is updated. I searched 177/189 High Street Dumfries (a Debenhams store investment bought by Panther Securities in December 2018) and SAW's entry still shows the previous landlord.

Re: Who owns the high street?

There was a time when I knew who owned most of the properties in London suburban high streets but so much has changed over the years I doubt I've kept up. As for provincial cities and towns, I doubt many if any of the companies that have been mentioned on this thread have much high street ownership....

Mac Mojave Spotlight

Having upgraded from Sierra to Mojave (2015 iMac, 27" 5K, 32GB), Spotlight started playing up, intermittent indexing, Mail message find not working, Finder tags not working, etc. After scouring on-line for remedy including resolving uncommon problems, and following instructions including Termin...

Whilst in America we went on a film studios tour around a genuine wild west town. We walked down the main street, at first we were quite impressed, until we realised you couldn't go inside any of the buildings and that they were just facades held up by wooden posts.
Typical cowboy builders.

Re: Theresa May to resign on the June 7th

My gripe is with her resignation speech. I haven't listened to it all but what attracted my attention was her failure to hold back her tears during the closing stages. Frankly, I think she missed a trick. I think because much of the speech was written for her. When one puts one's heart and soul into...

Re: Equity release or downsize

(e.g. how you're supposed to keep the house in good condition etc etc to the satisfaction of the company doing the equity release)

I think you'll find that's also a condition of an ordinary mortgage.

I really let the wife down today. We did everything she wanted to do, went to all the places she wanted to go to.

But I forgot to act as though I was delighted throughout.

Re: Equity release or downsize

Thank you for your comments so far. No children/no issues. We would consider a bungalow. Yes, you're right, i'm muddling the issues. Equity release would come later regardless. As well as what sort of property (house, bungalow, flat), the challenge is the number of rooms and their sizes. We have exp...

Not market rent

Scenario: A (landlord) lets a property to B (tenant). (Although i don't think is relevant to my question, A and B are unconnected parties for HMRC purposes.) Under the lease, the market rent is £10,000 a year. A gives B a side-letter rent concession at £8,000 pa. Q1. As A is not receiving £10,000 pa...
