Re: Null - avoid!

There are two vehicles in the Ilkeston area, where I used to live, which somehow slipped through the DVLA decency filter.

Re: Jerry

Not many folk know that with German words the rule is " i before e say ee and e before i say aye ". Hence , we have " lieder" ( leeder) , songs or "leider" ( lider ) , unfortunately and "wieder" ( veeder ) , again or "weide" (vider) , pasture. I was...

Re: Will help

If a charity is due the residue, they may insist on full estate accounts and be quite difficult in making sure they have had their full entitlement. It is generally not good idea to leave the residue to charity for this reason! You could mention this to your mother as a reason to be open The OP say...

Re: Fire tablet or anything better?

Talking of OS, is it worth pushing budget/perhaps limiting choice to ensure I get one running Pie; or even wait for something with Q? if not, how far back is still perfectly good enough? I'm no expert, this is simply a personal viewpoint. Many tablets will offer at least one OS upgrades. I have a n...

Re: Irritable Bowel Syndrome - Anyone Help?

I was diagnosed (by my GP but with no tests to confirm diagnosis) with IBS several years ago, and managed it with tablets. When I retired the symptoms eased which reinforced my belief it was probably stress related. However similar, but more severe symptoms returned a few months ago and after initia...

yes, definitely works, and often a slight turn clockwise after the use of the Birmingham screwdriver helps too

Re: Electric Screwdriver - Wooden Fence

However the most difficult screws I have to remove are not modern cross head types but the old single slot woodscrews. Adjusting the side gate by moving the hinge recently produced the usual problem that one of the old-fashioned screw heads had rusted over 20 years and was a devil to to get out. I'...

And the new name will be "First Trenitalia". Try reading that without first hearing Tren Italia. They may well call themselves for branding something like "West Coast Railway" or "West Coast Mainline". Legacy names like London Midland and London North Western have alre...

Re: Trimming my HYP

I'm now looking at this as an outsider, having swapped my HYP for a basket of ITs a year or so ago, but I would be reluctant to part with any of those three which I'd consider Premier League members , especially when most of the alternatives strike me as Non League candidates. At the very least I'd ...

Re: Evaluating a brokers stability

SVS actively welcomed expats. Most UK brokers won't accept them, or limit acceptance to countries where they themselves operate (e.g. Degiro) or Europe. And who mentioned expats? Are your comments relevant to this discussion? Dod It seemed a very reasonable response to 77ss's question, which was qu...

Re: EPA, LPA query

Perhaps OT for the legal board, but I've never been convinced of the need for a health LPA. My view is that regardless of the capacity or otherwise of the subject, then the NHS, or whoever is involved in making decisions on someone's care will always act in the best interest of the patient. They're...

Re: Supporting The Lemon Fool - Donations (versus Adverts)

Thanks PD, yes they were internal, but the ad also had a list of five users who had donated to the site, which made me wonder if it was some sort of hint that it was time for another round.

Strangely, the ad has now gone again.

Edit no, it's back again now.

Re: Supporting The Lemon Fool - Donations (versus Adverts)

Is there a way of checking when donations, and their effect on adverts on the site expire?

I last donated in September 2018 but have just started seeing adverts again, but can't find anywhere on the site to confirm the date ranges for which donations apply.

Thanks

Re: Car accident - Category N

One thing that I do now realise and hadn't appreciated before. The protected NCD is just that - it protects the 9 years "discount". So at renewal the premium will go up to reflect the accident and we will then get our protected discount on that increased premium. For some reason I'd alway...

I had a northbound endoscopy without sedation a few months back, and whilst it wasn't the most pleasurable of experiences, I'd rate it as uncomfortable rather than painful. But if I ever need a southbound one, I'm certain I'd take whatever was offered. A dentist only needs to look at the back of my ...

Re: Trump

"Send her back" made an appearance at Trump's latest rally yesterday. Trump may have gained in the short-term by forcing the Democrats to stand behind 4 more extreme members of their party, but will Americans really be comfortable with the idea that non-white US citizens criticising the U...
