Is BT (BT-A) heading for a cut?

Maybe yes, according to some …. From Shares Magazine UK telecoms giant BT (BT.A) appears to be softening up investors to a future cut to its £1.5bn a year dividend as it balances rising fibre roll-out investment. BT’s management estimate that it will cost an extra £400m to £600m a year to accelerate...

Re: BT Group down over 3% today.

Unlike you, I do not " advocate " any strategy to anyone! It's been noticed by other posters that you relentlessly attack those who warn of the risks in adopting what you term the "HYP Strategy" I do not at all! I merely draw attention to the facts when you and others use strawm...

Re: BT Group down over 3% today.

[ Unfortunately I am entirely unable to foretell the future You expressed confidence that Vodafone would not cut their dividend. I most certainly did not! All I determined, for my own benefit and no-one else's by the way, was that I was prepared to take the risk that Vodafone Group (VOD) would not ...

Re: BT Group down over 3% today.

The cut off is the yield that does not offer the " Highest " sustainable yield at the time of purchase Your definition of "sustainable" please. Do you mean non reducing? No when I say " sustainable ", I mean " sustainable "! If so then you are failing to noti...

Re: BT Group down over 3% today.

I did not say it (FTSE 100 yield) was irrelevant to everybody, only the HYP Strategy. I thought the H in HYP stood for "high". Of course it does, you win a cookie! The selection criteria for an HYP is the " Highest " sustainable yield at the time of purchase that conforms with t...

Not really. It's the moving benchmark against which we judge 'high'.

I did not say it was irrelevant to everybody, only the HYP Strategy.

Re: BT Group down over 3% today.

The HYP Strategy is concerned with the selection of shares with the highest yields available, where the dividend is considered sustainable and of diversification is maintained. The FTSE 100 Yield is irrelevant. The FTSE 100 yield is relevant to those who use it as a relative measure for selection p...

Re: BT Group down over 3% today.

Come on buddy I think you are being a bit OTT here. 4% the back end of 2016 was certainly HYPable. The yield was significantly less than 4.00% until the end of January 2017, when the price did drop fairly significantly over a fairly short period of time. But you are entirely missing the point. In o...

Re: BT Group down over 3% today.

============================= when did you buy these? - presumably at around 200p - must have been many years ago . so its been a good investment for you - a good yield and held its value - so far . but not so good for those buying in more recent times, no doubt encouraged by bullish HYPERS , who h...

You don't think that making up facts to further one's specious arguments is using emotive language? Interesting. Each to their own I guess.

Re: BT Group down over 3% today.

yet another classic HYP selection bites the dust . #Except the share price is up ~1% today so the bosses comments yesterday haven't hurt the share price. For me BT is showing an 87% gain (including dividends) and has paid me close to the original investment cost back in dividends. Capital is ...

Re: Highest yielding shares underperformed FTSE 100 over five years

We have a lot in common. Please, speak for yourself, not me. We both believe there are better ways, and we both doggedly believe in our own ways. Again, do not presume to speak for me, especially when you are so wrong! I have simply found the strategy that addresses my aims, is relatively simple to...

How does one check "net gearing of under 50%", "high borrowings" without looking at an annual report? There were also other items that a prospective investor could only reach within a Annual Report, or are you suggesting that Investors should rely on Yahoo, ADVFN and the like ne...

I run a book of 40 continuous individual stocks from around the globe. I run on average a book of 5 etfs. Same commodities....50 holdings. So I do value. Not income. Re: Highest yielding shares underperformed FTSE 100 over five years

The idea that you believe that the HYP Strategy means not having to check out, at the very least, the latest Annual Report plus all subsequent Interim Reports and Trading Updates, is laughable! All it does is demonstrate how little you know about the Strategy! It's possible that non-practitioners k...

Understandable. I'm not saying your wrong. And if your in profit, well then obviously not wrong.
