Re: £450 haircut.

Back in the day I used to be a massive Wham fan. As you can imagine, that singled me out for some special abuse at school. But I didn't care. Much. I remember it being reported that George Michael was shooting the video for Careless Whisper and needed to stop shooting because it was very important t...

Re: Well if ya like fast jets....

Most of my friends know that i'm an 80's geek. There's not much that I don't know about that decade if we're talking about movies and music. So it was amusing the number of people that came up to me today to say "Have you seen the Top Gun 2 trailer?!!!" No. I haven't seen that trailer and ...

Re: £450 haircut.

I know that my Wife regularly spends £100 to £200 every couple of months on getting her hair done. £450 sounds overpriced but then if the Mrs found out what was I was spending on my hobbies, she'd have kittens. If the Mrs is happy to pay £450 to get her hair done, just nod and say "looks lovely...

Re: New York - then somewhere more relaxed?

And wherever you go in the US anytime, go to a Whole Foods Market, and drool at the selection of beer, fresh food, and everything else they sell. Take a salad box, fill it full of yummy stuff, and go eat it somewhere nice. There's several in NY of course, including a really good one at Columbus Cir...

Re: This evening's news

There are currently more than 4 million people on the NHS waiting list and I don't think this [splitting two conjoined twins] is a sensible diversion of resources. Might you agree that within that NHS waiting list of 4 million people, there might be better candidates to knock off the list than two ...

It's simply a matter of priorities. There are currently more than 4 million people on the NHS waiting list and I don't think this is a sensible diversion of resources. That's the PC version of what I was trying to say before. HYD From the story as I saw it,that was private surgery, paid for by some...

Re: This evening's news

Interesting that you think RC 'has given a fair assessment of the situation', whereas mine was 'not grounded in any common sense'. As far as I can tell, we were not a million miles away in what we were saying . . . I don't want to fall out with anyone. This is an emotional minefield and yet you wer...

Re: This evening's news

RC has given a fair assessment of the situation. Frankly we could make your argument against treating an 85 year old for anything, or my wife who was diagnosed at the age of 56 with Myeloma, a terminal blood cancer. She died 3 1/2 years later. What a waste of money you would I suppose say. If we do...

Re: This evening's news

I guess I will have to be the bad guy again but I really don’t think it is fair to extend the lives of Siamese Twins. The Doctors and Nurses here have a lot to answer for as there is ZERO quality of life for Siamese Twins from the moment that they are born. It’s a real shame that their story is all ...

Deep Fakes

If you’re anything like me, whenever you’ve seen the term ‘deep fake’ in the media, you’ve presumed that it is just an extension of fake news. And that is true to a certain extent. But it goes way way past fake news and into the realms of virtual reality. I guess I’m not making myself very clear, so...

Re: Exhausted......some day of sport

Exciting stuff, but I can't understand why there isn't a rule to say that if the Super Over is tied, they repeat Super Overs until there's a decisive result, rather than going to the "boundary" tie-break rule. To encourage teams to try and get more boundaries presumably. Sounds sensible f...

That’s more like it.

It’s good for the game for someone new to have their name engraved on the trophy rather than the same people, year in and year out.

Congratulations on demolishing Serena, Simona Halep.

I had a thought of something that will blow your minds. A solution that has evaded even the most intelligent. Maybe a polite, simple request of just asking the entity ; would he/she leave please? I know. Its a concept that even evaded me. Manners and simple English. Maybe it's worth stepping into t...

Re: Can nothing be done about the spam?

Facebook doesn’t get much right but what it does brilliantly is the ‘block’ function.

Once deployed, it’s like the other person never existed. You won’t see anything by them, they won’t see anything by you.

Just a shame that the software here is not as sophisticated as that.

Anyone else bored stiff with the same players making the semi final and particularly, the final, year after year?
