Large store cupboards as well, given the propensity of supermarkets to run out of basics like sugar and salt . Whoa there Alaric. If your propensity for basics is the above then I don't think you need concern yourself too much with regard to the end of the world being the cause of your demise. Unle...

Re: Reasons to be glad summer's over.

I attended a hospital appointment yesterday afternoon. At the main enterance is a large electronic information and bulletin board and when I was leaving it was displaying: '12-09-18' - '14:36' - ' 40 °C'. Granted it was in the direct sunlight but heh, I thrive on temperatures of this level. One of t...

A distant cousin of Pratchett's Magrat? I had to look that one up. Had I been subjected to to the misfortune of being saddled with either of those two family names, leaving me open to much jockular derision, I would have considered getting around the title by deed polling myself to Mr. 'Alliu...

Re: Pronunciation

I was in grade school with a kid with the surname 'Onions'. He, and his parents, would freak out if they were referred to with what we kids loved to call them - Onions. Well you would, wouldn't you. They were most insistent that their name was O'Nions. Yeah, right Mrs Onions.

Was going to post the Ballad of Lucy Jordan, Marianne Faithfull https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0NxhFn0szc but listened to it and it's not really much of a story. Wow? I listened to it and heard a helluva poignant and bittersweet story ramed full of emotion - but there you go. Anyway thanks for po...

'Sweet Home Alabama' co-writer dies

Ed King, Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist has died age 68. He'd been suffering from lung cancer. The fact he quit the band in 1975, before re-joining again in 1987, could possibly have saved his life as the chances are he would have been aboard the plane that crashed killing three members of the band. This ...

Re: Vacating a property

If a hand over of a sold property is upcoming, how should the seller leave the property for the purchaser (assuming it could remain empty for a while, although I don't know that for sure). I'm thinking as Autumn approaches and it starts getting colder. Assuming when you state sold that the monies f...

I always used to feel cold and happened to mention this to the doctor and my feet never touched till I landed in the clinique for blood tests. Immediately pu...

Another, that I overlooked, in France.

Now, if someone out of France receives a correspondence from this town would they be in receipt of a 'French letter from Condom' or ' A condom from French letter? :?:

Two I'm aware of in France. Montcuq - département Lot. Originally in Occitan the 'q' was pronounced 'k' - Mon cuk. As French is now the 1st language it is pronounced the same as mon cul ( my ar.se ). Apparently, on a good day, people can be seen queuing to raise their skirts or drop their pants for ...
