Re: CRWN results for 2019

Barns
Many thanks for your shedding light on these numbers, and there was me expecting a nice fat divi from Crown.
Next year perhaps ?

Re: CRWN results for 2019

The cost of ELE in MIG1 was £192 with the current valuation of £1629, so it seems odd that they would emphasise 4X if taken at cost as that is a 50% loss to valuation.
I agree completely that the figures are not clear, which is why I drew attention to them

Re: CRWN results for 2019

I notice that Maven have announced a sale of ELE, of which they held 11.3% valued in last accounts of MIG 1 at £1.629mill, at a 4X price (which as their cost was £192K) I assume that 4x is to their valuation. Buyer was LDC private equity Interestingly in Crowns latest, 2019, accounts they appear to ...

Re: Amati 2019/20 Offer

Amati half year report out this afternoon, divi of 3.5% and announce the 19/20 offer prospectus will be end October. Figures look perfectly respectable for the period to 31 July, however the NAV has dropped some way since the half year end, so given a lower NAV and that the £25mill offer will be cap...

Re: Albion Venture VCT (AAVC): AGM 2019

I have just sent W F-A an email enquiring if I am owed a letter requesting feedback on this matter as I took the trouble to mail him well before the AGM querying the resolution.
I am not holding my breath for a reply though.

Re: Albion Venture VCT (AAVC): AGM 2019

Tim A wonderful piece of research ! To be honest I had to read it 3 times to make sure I hadn't missed something and my jaw was dropping lower each time ! No wonder W F-A did not want more than 1 question per shareholder, and only from a very few at that ! His behaviour, which at the time I thought ...

Re: 2019/2020 VCT raises - where will you put your money?

Shootingstar Well where to start ? Northern & Albion I think we have pretty much similar views, Baronsmead & Mobus I hold no opinion, but of the others, Pembroke I have dabbled small in 2017, 18 & 19. I am a bit nervous on their consumer focus but it is very high end and that tends to wo...

Re: What if.....

Uncle I have also been pondering on this conunderum and largely came to the same conclusion as you have. One reason I thought this way was because HMRC conducted a quite exhaustive investigation into the relative merits of SEIS, EIS & VCT's, named "patient capital report" in which VCT'...

Re: Where to spend Christmas?

Have you thought of S Africa ? Great hotels, cheap currency, overnight flights with only a 2 hour time change so no jetlag & great weather. Beach or wild life, take your pick. Christmas there can be as conventional as you wish it to be, Cape Town tends to be very busy then but Port Elizabeth are...

Re: Amati 2019/20 Offer

Uncle I take your point entirely, but I fancy Woodford could be both a late cause & most certainly an effect. I recall the number of start up (or close to) companies which could have been EIS had Woodford offered that wrapper to his followers, that he hoovered up, which likely would have floated...

Crown Place VCT report

CRWN have just announced that uplift in value to June 30 including dividends has been 11.2% or 3.75 per share. Very satisfactory. Regarding the Investment performance fee this is RBS base + 2% then 20% above with shortfalls carried forward. This year there is no performance fee but the c/f figure ap...

Re: Albion Fundraise Announced

Gostevie Exactly what I noticed, in particular I see that KAY is looking for £10mill with CRWN only £4mill, I suspect there might be some kickback this year from investors although with the total size only being £34mill it will all be taken up I am sure. Asking the obvious question, has CRWN got wha...

Re: Amati 2019/20 Offer

BBB Your point about AIM perhaps losing its mojo is well made, one wonders how much the Woodford Barnett shenanigins may have contributed to this. It was about 5 years ago Woodford started up his funds, with an almost immediate rush of cash which needed investing. Sadly he spent iit n a large way fo...

Re: Amati 2019/20 Offer

BBB Your post is very accurate, as always ! Amati are certainly a very user friendly company but I have noticed, and am not sure if it is change of managers, new rules or a cobination of both, that since Doug Lawson departed to his own start up their performance has been less than it was. Of course ...

Half year numbers out today, impressive ! Total return over 10p a share, plenty of marked up values but the stand out performer was the exchange of contracts on Process Systems Enterprise to Siemens for 10X total funds invested. Oddly enough I do not see anything in the report of a renogotiation of ...

Re: Starting Tips For Building a Portfolio

Scotia When you mention that brokers such as wealth club offer new shares in some vct's at lower prices than going direct, plus some trail comm rebated, are there any other costs like having to hold the shares on their platform or is it genuinely cheaper? I always buy my vct's direct from the issuer...

Karrellan
That is what I understand it says in their current prospectus, p19. They target 3p annually, with "net receipts of any disposals paid out most likely as a tax free special dividend".

Re: Pembroke VCT

pbarne I have participated in the last 2 offers and am tempted to have a modest bite again in this offer. Like many fools I am rather nervous on the prospects of vct's generally under the new rules but PEMB has always operated in a way which was compliant with new rules before they were mandatory. I...

Cookie You are correct re the size of Jarvis, they are a small aim firm based in T Wells, but a large part of their business is fund management, which fits with a small business, I have a share deal active a/c with them, it is basic, but very efficient over the 6 years or so it has been open. I have...
