Re: Hurricane Energy (HUR)

We are by all accounts getting to the business end of the Lincoln Crestal drill now: I hope that we get news of a flare and a subsequently an RNS beginning of next week. I am concerned to get on with the WC drill. Good news from Warwick would be welcome to help reassure following the dissappointment...

Re: Any good films to watch?

Birdman is definitely quirky and I could see why some people might be put off, but it is quite brilliant. While I am at it, I would like to put in a word for the underappreciated "Master and Commander: Far Side of the World". It is a film I thought was merely ok initially, but on subsequen...

Re: Any good films to watch?

I have a few films to add to the list:

Whiplash.

Birdman.

And the best film of all time in my opinion: The Big Lebowski.

Re: Share buybacks: a beautiful thing

Ok, What do you propose that businesses will do once they have bought back all the stock that they are legally entitled to do? Matt They will distribute reserves however they see fit, be that dividends or share repurchase subject to the limits imposed by the governance arrangements of the corporati...

Re: Share buybacks: a beautiful thing

I am sadly disillusioned this morning - I had always thought "Joy of Brexit" was a modern Boudica (who was of course) the queen of the British Celtic Iceni tribe who led an uprising against the occupying forces of the Roman Empire where the modern version is a champion of the British trib...

Re: Share buybacks: a beautiful thing

Next is one frequently cited as being canny at buying back its own shares. Discount control mechanisms in investment trusts are another example of a value enhancing buyback. Buybacks of VCT shares illustrate the liquidity argument nicely, buyers are hard to find so the company acts to help would be ...

Try Linux. I am absolutely loving the switch from Windows 10 (little better than malware) to freedom enhancing Debian Linux.

It’s fast, free, and doesn’t try to sell me to advertisers. What have you got to lose?

Happy to say that you are wrong, but this is OT for HYP board so will make the pro-buyback case elsewhere.

Share buybacks: a beautiful thing

All too often we see on these boards grumpy Fools whinging that a share buyback is taking place. The petulant mutterings usually go something like this: “Buybacks are reducing my dividend.... They used to be illegal...management want their share options to trigger” They are, of course, entitled to t...

Re: Thoughts on Bond Buying Through WiseAlpha?

Having observed problems with numerous minibonds, I am not much happier with the investments WiseAlpha is offering. The names might be well known, but who actually has title over the investment assets? Will there be anyone offering liquidity in order to sell? Unregulated bond fractions issued out of...

Re: The Matrix - part 4

Wait, there’s three Matrix films? Film one was really rather good, although the whole human battery thing had me wincing. Breaking basic thermodynamics for no compelling plot reason really jarred my suspension of disbelief. Carrie Ann Moss was thrilling. Keanu Reeves proved that if you want to cast ...

Re: Hurricane Energy (HUR)

The updated figure seems very promising indeed. I am convinced that the Lancaster wells are doing the business better than could have been hoped for. Hopefully at some stage we will get a further release of data from the company to confirm this. I am feeling a little sore at the drop sub 40p, but ex...

Re: Eurozone and Target 2 monopoly

I am entirely convinced that money represents a claim on real wealth. In the mirror world of the Eurozone, thus appears not to be the case. Vast debts and so called deposits seem to lack any link to base reality. When money ceases to represent a claim on a real asset, it surely ceases to have meanin...

Hurricane back at 39p. I have topped up. Cash plus the Lancaster EPS system already extant were valued at 39p in the Edison report, albeit running for a decade at a higher POO.

Nope but I just spent an interesting hour with this document, trying to see any breach, and struggled to find anything that would trouble MW. You say MW will “have their trousers pulled down in court”. My question is: On what grounds? What law have they broken, exactly? https://eur-lex.europa.eu/le...

Re: Burford Capital Limited (BUR)

Their short position was disclosed publically before the alleged trash and cash so no foul. Muddy Waters have played a blinder. Well done them. A well executed attack. And shame on Burford. Their questionable corporate governance is really what opened the door to this raid. It is all too simple to c...

Re: Burford Capital Limited (BUR)

No demonstrable intent to deceive.

Used publically available information, including the company filings.

No way this will result in successful action for market abuse.

Muddy Waters are to be commended on their effort to further price discovery.
