Re: WinXP Updates

Does anybody know how to get rid of the Updates message for Windows XP? I have a machine that displaying a fixed program that is scheduled to start on run-up without human intervention.... Presumably you have a good reason for not upgrading to a newer version of Windows, perhaps that program is onl...

Re: Airplanes and wind speed disruption

The plane took off into a headwind.... Crosswinds are the real problem, but apparently.... There is no headwind limitation for most commercial aircraft for take off, and therefore is no maximum overall limit for take off (or landing) ... However the reality is that there are wind limits for opening...

Re: Tyre question

I was informed that this was not the way things are done and you really want the best tyres at the back. I can't see how this makes sense? Can anyone confirm if this is the correct? Yes, it is counter-intuitive but is correct. For the explanation of why, see here: https://kumhotyre.co.uk/kumho-news...

Morrison's Interim results

The 2019/20 interim ordinary dividend will be 1.93p, up 4.3%. In addition to the ordinary dividend, the Board is proposing another special dividend, this time of 2.00p per share. We remain confident that Morrisons has many meaningful and sustainable sales and profit growth opportunities ahead, and ...

Re: A Forest in a football stadium - a vision of the future?

And there was I, thinking that the carefully-coiffed "natural" display gardens at Chelsea were a bit dodgy? You'd be surprised, there is 'life after Chelsea' for many of them, either in whole or in part :D https://www.housebeautiful.com/uk/garden/a20917471/chelsea-flower-show-garden...

A Forest in a football stadium - a vision of the future?

An Austrian football stadium has been transformed into a native central European forest....

Re: "Buy Back" program

I've sen an announcement that a company that I hold shares in is to hold a "bug-back program". I take it this means that they just buy-back the shares I won so I get cash and they get shares ... this is 100% mandatory and I have no choice in the matter? They buy back the shares in the mar...

Re: Can't get onto my yahoo emails

Oh dear! I wonder how many invitations I have missed out on or how many people I have offended by not replying. Good news, maybe you'll get them after all :) My long lost test email has just arrived! The raw header shows it has taken four days to find its way through Yahoo's servers, but arri...

Re: Can't get onto my yahoo emails

It doesn't look as though we are ever going to receive all those emails which were sent during the Yahoo outage, does it? No. Neither the missing RNS alerts from Investegate nor the missing test email I sent from one of my Yahoo accounts to another have turned up yet. Look like they just got lost i...

What's great with the W10 start menu is it's really customisable, and with the ability to pin things to the tiled area and organise them... I certainly wouldn't want to go back to poring through long lists of and in folders and subfolders etc..... Couldn't agree more. It was a bit of a culture shoc...
