Re: BitDefender remorse

It did die, seven years ago. I use Norton Ghost and an external HDD as backup, run only for weekly backup then switched off, but transferring to the new PC was a right pain. I used to use Norton Ghost and liked it, but it's getting a bit long in the tooth now. More recently (in preparation for the ...

For older NAS devices like this one SMB1 is usually required as they do not support anything higher.

Enable the 'SMB 1.0 CIFS/Client' in 'Windows Features' and see if it then appears in File Explorer.

I'm not looking forward to W10. A year away, so they say. Technically W10 is now quite mature at three and a half years old. What is coming on January 14, 2020 is end of support for Windows 7 (so no more security updates after that date). https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/13853/windows-lifec...

I just had need to go to the Weebly page and got a Google message about malware being detected there. I went there too, probably at the same time and for the same reason (in response to a new post). I got no such warning. Can you reproduce the warning? It would help Kiloran if you said which AV gav...

Re: My new wifi extender - is it dead on arrival?

The Laptop's WiFi status is only showing the strength of the the WiFi channel it is connected to and it is, from your description, still connected to your router. You probably need to disconnect the laptop from your BT router and connect it to the extender. Thanks again, Bree. You're saying that th...

I just did a quick check of 5-6 companies on the Webfg website and they all show n/a, 0% or 0.1% for the forecast yield. Here's Aviva: https://uk.webfg.com/equity/Aviva In the sea of red 'current' yields, RDSB has a black 0.1% forecast yield. The WebFG page for that has a f/c yield of 0.1% in the h...

Am I obliged to change the registered keeper of car 1 from my name to hers? That would be something you need to ask your insurers. Seems there's no legal position one way or the other, it's up to each insurer to say in their T&Cs... Most insurance companies insist that the person who they insur...
