Re: upgrade

thanks bree I have just tried to enter the key and it worked ... Glad to hear that :) A note, in case you ever need to do a clean install on this machine. As a new machine that came with Windows 10 Home pre-installed it has a key for W10 Home embedded in its firmware (same apples to W8/8.1 machines...

Re: Colour Printers

With refillables, how messy is the job? I ask as I know that if you get the ink on anything it is almost impossible to remove. Simple and mess-free. Just plug the bottle onto the top of the tank, only then is the ink released. This is a video for the model I have... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...

Re: Colour Printers

Cost isn't too much of an issue other than not wanting to be suckered into expensive consumables. Most printers seem to be sold at a loss, masking their money on the many ink cartridges you then end up buying (especially as they seem to dry out if left unused). HP in particular are known in the pas...

Re: Another plant identification request.

.. a mixed colony of the two might look quite nice... I'm all for bio diversity and wildlife friendly planting, but in a small garden it has to be aesthetically pleasing too. Field garlic doesn't make the grade IMHO. Foxglove, field poppy, verbascum, honesty and purple toadflax all do - their seed ...

Re: Asus all in one PC won;t load windows

..any idea how often the MCT gets updated Bree? ... how often should I upgrade my W10 MCT USB to have the latest W10 version? Or is it always one/two major updates behind the latest Windows Update version? A 'major update' is one that takes you to the next version of W10. There have been six so far...

SWMBO says to remove it, so I shall.

Yes, I do whenever I get it in my garden. Not a particularly attractive weed wild flower, unlike that Foxglove next to it.

Re: Asus all in one PC won;t load windows

Brilliant Bree - thank you. Just gotta find a 64 bit win 10 PC now! :) If you can't find one to make a recovery drive usb on, the alternative is to download the Media Creation Tool , run it, and select 'make install media for another PC'. Then you can make the 64-bit install usb. As I said, that ha...

Re: Asus all in one PC won;t load windows

In that case, try booting from a USB. A Windows install USB can not only be used to install windows, it also contains the same advanced startup recovery utilities. So will a Recovery Drive made on another Win10 PC (no need to include system files when making one). You must use one that's the same bi...

I now find that the user1 local account needs a login with the credentials of the onedrive account! How do I go back to the previous position of just being user1 no login needed ? Not quite, user1 is now signing in with a Microsoft account instead of a Local account. You can easily switch from one ...

Re: Asus all in one PC won;t load windows

I've googled and come up with "the solution" which is basically to enable CMS and disable secure boot control, reboot pressing F9 to load windows system restore and go from there. Well, I can make the changes in the aptio utility and reboot, pressing F9... at which juncture it just goes t...

Re: Another plant identification request.

I think the plant to the left is a Foxglove, but does anybody have an idea what the one on the right is? Looks to me like Garlic Mustard (Alliaria petiolata) see these Google images in particular this one... First year plants are low-growing rosettes with rounded, kidney-shaped leaves, scalloped on...
