Re: the NewRiver REIT (NRR) topic

Hi Pref - I haven't changed my mind about this company since I posted this viewtopic.php?p=227592#p227592 - they will come through this and in the meanwhile I can continue with the dividends. Still a happy holder

with kind regards - BBB

Re: Regional REIT.

There was nothing new in this week's Trading Update - just further confirmation that all is going to plan. Also going to plan is the sp - looking to close out the week at 108.9p...I imagine all here will be pleased with that! True, Skyship but : ~~ The SP is within a whisker of an all time high and...

Re: Albion Development - Interim

We were told at the Albion shareholder event yesterday that the Radnor portfolio had been "restructured" (interesting description), in that the Twickenham school had been sold recently, with the Sevenoaks school retained. Across the Albion VCTs, the sale apparently achieved a 3.75x multip...

Re: Multi-Asset managers- where are they investing?

Eric Bernbaum, portfolio manager at JPMorgan, has diversified his portfolio from "just six asset classes at its launch to 12 today, including emerging market equities and global real estate". The clue here is in this "global real estate" - which can only be a fund of some sort -...

Re: Crystallisation / Drawdown Options

Inheritance tax feels a long way off at 57 and the kids are going to get more than enough money anyway, especially as we haven't yet inherited from our parents (when we do we may well pass it straight on through via will variation). Don't forget that any money left in a pension when you pop it, is ...

Silly question - Have you asked OWL? - they are usually pretty helpful. If not use Google to learn how to create graphs. Microsoft provide lots of ''how to' videos.'

Re: Extinction Rebellion Demands

The three main aims of XR are (according to BBC website): 1 - The government must declare a "climate emergency " 2 - The UK must legally commit to reducing carbon emissions to net zero by 2025 3 - A citizens' assembly must be formed to "oversee the changes" this is the bit, what...

The Brexit Effect?

A notable jump in the SP of many REITs today - just as positive news on a Brexit deal is emerging - or am I imagining things?

~~ INTU up 24 % !!!!
~~ HMSO up more than 10%
~~ NRR up 8.7%

Re: Getting a new sofa

What is your best advice on getting a new fabric sofa that doesn't cost a fortune but is extremely comfy, supportive and firm? Are sofa beds any better than they used to be or should I just go for a normal sofa if I am looking for the most comfort? Why specify a new sofa. I have about six sofas in ...

Right now I'd treat a Corbyn government as the lesser of evils: max five years of his nonsense, vs blighting the rest of my natural life. My word, UncleE, you have a short memory. When we had the man from the Manse first as chancellor and then as PM (albeit for longer than 5 years) he did to our ec...

Re: Towards net zero : Starting point

There's a link on page 19 of the report to the data tables underlying the analysis which shows that the "netting off" was 11.3Mt of CO2, so gross CO2 emissions were 375.4Mt. We're only offsetting about 3% of gross emissions at present. The UK isn't going to be able to rely on planting lar...

Re: Towards net zero : Starting point

Thanks, masped I have read those figures but they don't answer the question not least because %ages are like statistics (as in "there are lies, damned lies and statistics") You say In 2018, UK net emissions of carbon dioxide were provisionally estimated to be 364.1 million tonnes (Mt), 2.4...

Towards net zero : Starting point

We all know what the net zero target is BUT I am really struggling to find where we are today on the journey. i.e what are are our net emissions today. Say, for example they are 40% and we are aiming for zero in 20 years time then we would have to make a reduction of 2 percentage points per year. Do...

Re: Albion Fundraise Announced

Is there much overlap between those funds? ... if someone bought each of them, would it be diversified? The simple answer is : it is easier to invest in all of them usually as the application default is to split your investment equally between the six. If you do that you will get a dividend every m...
