Re: Suits you, Sir

The photos remind me of kids who've finally "grown into" those trousers that were bought to last.

Re: Suits you, Sir

I can remember sitting in the bath wearing my jeans in order to shrink them so they'd be skin tight. At least now you can buy them that way. I can't understand the fact that some people have other people wear their new jeans in order to break then in ------- yeuch!!

Re: Watch out!

I occasionally use a snakeskin handbag from the 1930s and a young girl started telling me off for doing so, she was not too happy when I pointed out that her handbag made out of man made materials had caused more problems to the environment than mine. I can't abide people who judge the past by today...

Re: Dammit, it got me again

Alf an old soldier of 96 sadly died in January this year. His favourite hymn was "Valient Hearts" which he had always said he wanted at his funeral. We got around the ban by all waiting outside the church until the undertakers arrived with the coffin and, led by members of a local choir, w...

Re: Holiday romance

Hi Bnc, we're in a small village called Drimpton, Bridport is about 10 miles south. The cottage is very comfy and, of course, is dog friendly. There is a very pleasant local pub which does decent pub grub, nothing fancy but well cooked and served on proper plates - no lumps of slate or chuncks of wo...

Re: Holiday romance

We're staying in a cottage in Dorset at the moment. We're having a very peaceful holiday and hopefully OH will not feel the need to venture into the car cleaning business. Honestly Bnc your wife must have nerves of steel. It sounds as though she is now 100% which is very good news. I hope we have a ...

Surely if Sod was a female it would be Sodesses law :) Anyway, male or female I'll still have to wait a month for my free pint.

Sod and his law

After closing due to a fire our local pub is finally re-opening at 5.00pm on Friday 30th August - hooray. Unfortunately we go away on holiday at 9.00am on Friday 30th August. Damn and blast.

Re: Oooh, you are awful

About 20 years ago my cousin who now lives in America brought his second wife over to meet us all. His first wife had absolutely no sense of humour and didn't get English humour at all. After experiencing wife No.1 we were a little apprehensive about No.2, we needn't have worried. She found some cds...

Have got to catch up with this especially as rumour has it that they shot some scenes at a Plas Teg which is an old Elizabethan house not too far away.

Beer

We're going to Dorset for a holiday soon, we'll be staying near Beaminster and wondered if anyone has any recommendations for local beers. Palmers seems to be the most local (Bridport) but wondered if there are any other micro breweries delivering anything interesting.

Landrover near us has BUIIMUD which as it's usually covered in the stuff is most apropriate.

Thanks for the recommendations, I shall definitely look at Gtech, funnily enough I was chatting to a friend last night and she's just bought one and thinks it's the bees knees.

Recommendation

Is anyone able to recommend a hand held vacuum cleaner? There are so many out there I don't know where to begin. Was going to post on DAK but thought the Snug would be OK because us women talk about such things at the pub. ;)
