Re: The Beer You Are Drinking Right Now

Raised an interesting question. If they could largely remove all the alcohol from beer whilst largely retaining all the aroma, flavour - would you make the switch? it's not quite the same. Well, indeed, that is the question? Could you elaborate though on what precisey isn't the same? Raised an inte...

Re: The Beer You Are Drinking Right Now

He and his message not necessarily welcome round here but a review of non-alcoholic lagers. Might give that Sainsburys Czeck lager a whirl. As I've mentioned here the Franziskaner wheat is good. And on Saturday I saw that Wetherspoons were selling non-alcholic Adnams Ghost Ship and reading up they a...

Car rear window replacement

Mate's girlfriend had a rear window smashed to gain access to her car. If claiming on insurance will she have to pay the excess and lose her no claims discount?

If so, presumably better for her to not contact the insurers?

Any idea of cost?

Re: Read the label. Carefully!

The label for Franziskaner alcohol free is the same just blue instead of gold.

But actually it does a fairly good imitation of the real thing.

I bought some for when my brother comes to visit as he is on a health kick. But of course I had to try one myself.

Re: Santander strikes again PLUS

So I think where the confusion may lie is that in order to make a payment using online banking you need a registered and verified number to in order to get OTP's even if the transaction you are making doesn't require it. So it doesn't matter if it's a known payee or not, the check on whether you are...

Re: Santander strikes again PLUS

I also find your suggestion of reducing the value of individual transfers to be very interesting.Instead of 20 x £1000 do you think 1000 x £20 would be more acceptable to the system? Doing 1000 transactions is going to be unrealistic. What we have to establish here first of all is whether you are b...

Re: Santander strikes again PLUS

When ever I present at the branch I now have to produce not only my S card but also my driving licence which is taken through to some back office – reason unknown. I will stop allowing that as it is an unreasonable breach of something! TBH that just sounds like standard identity verification. Peopl...

Re: Santander strikes again PLUS

gnawsome, when you asked Santander why you they request an OTP for every transaction you make what did they say? This is not normal. That is hard to answer precisely. I have raised the matter countless times by 'secure message' and at the branch. No clear answer is ever provided. All I get is 'advi...

Re: Santander strikes again PLUS

gnawsome, You have no registered mobile so for new payee's or high value transactions you will have to use telephone banking or go to a branch. This is a choice Santander have made for Security purposes. Nothing more, nothing less. I have a bank account with First Direct which uses a little code gen...

Re: GBBF 2018

It is with some excitement and a little trepidation that I contemplate the GBBF 2018 that I will be visiting tomorrow. After last year I intend to take it a little easier in the hope that I will get back home unscathed. I think I will stick to tasting a variety of beers in units of one third of a p...

Re: Santander strikes again PLUS

At 82 you need to be making better use of your time. Credit cards have what they call "velocity limits". That is to say if you go on a bit of shopping spree, the bank may suspend your account until they can contact you or you contact them. It's for obvious reasons. It's a bit of a pain and...

Re: Santander strikes again PLUS

Honestly mate, IMO you sound like a real pain in the ass customer and I am sure Santander would be delighted to be rid. But sticking to the facts a little here: The exchange was verbal and I might be unreliable in my recall (another of my personal limitations with which I have to cope) but I remembe...

Hi GrandOiseau, You assert that I’m trying to “develop an ethical investor strategy” - I’ve never said any such thing. What would you call it? Perhaps, by posting here on Investment Strategies, I’ve brought this on myself but all I was trying to do was describe the second step that I’ve made regard...

Re: Tobacco companies

What you are trying to do is develop an ethical investor strategy. Unfortunately you seem to have fallen at the first hurdle... I’m going to have a more difficult decision to make regarding tracker ETFs and, to be honest, I’m not sure I’ll make the effort to sort this out. Despite being an ex-smoker...
