Re: Should pub chairs have wooden legs?

One good thing (or not depending on your pov) about spoons is that they have a very strict policy on children. And noise (of the non customer variety)

Re: Should pub chairs have wooden legs?

There has been a development - Draft House have been taken over by Brewdog. Now, I openly admit I've never been in a Brewdog pub but from what I've read and heard it would explain why they will keep the Draft House name on all their pubs. I never did go back into the Milton Keynes Draft House or ind...

Re: Stig of the Dump

That was one of the first proper books I read as a child and I thought I loved it at the time.

When I tried to reread it a couple of years ago I thought it was dirge and ditched it after 30-odd pages.

Re: Thailand cave rubbish

Just read this in an online report: The rescue operation to free the last of the 12 boys and their football coach from a Thailand cave could have been a disaster, divers have revealed, with water pumps draining the area failing just hours after the last boy had been evacuated. Divers and rescue work...

The missus took it in and bartered some more. Got a "goodwill" credit note.

I've never been that persuasive!

#3 - What could be done with it? Well it said when the house would be empty and that the alarm was broken, which would be of interest to certain types of people. It's not hard to ascertain if a property is empty though. People post about going for a night out or going on holiday all the time. I agr...

Re: Facebook Stalking

Interesting one. A few thoughts.

#1 - How much of this info could be discovered without the use of FB?

#2 - What is unique about this information?

#3 - What could be done with it?

Not that I am saying you haven't raised something to think about.

Re: The Beer You Are Drinking Right Now

Yesterday I was in Norfolk and had a couple of pints of Lacons Encore beer. Lacons is a revived name brewery in Great Yarmouth. Founded in 1760 by a Mr Laycon (later dropped the y!) they reached a peak of 80,000 barrels pa and 350 tied houses. In 1965 they were taken over by Whitbread and closed 3 y...

Went to a local cricket club beer fest on Friday. Aylesbury Brew House "Wolf" (3.8%) - made with Slovenian Styrian Wolf Hops - light citrus and bitterness and not too bad Pheasantry Brewery "NZPA" (4.6%) - as you'd expect brewed using NZ hops - gooseberry, really loved this one G...

Re: Returning faulty item

Thanks all. I can find the transaction on the CC statement so I may give that a whirl. The missus had the idea about buying another and using that receipt to get a refund. That would be good if it was just a "faulty batch" which online reviews suggest it might be (as one person had the sam...

Re: Returning faulty item

My wife bought a small ticket item, namely a roasting tin, in the new year sales, from Sainsburys. The coating has come away in a couple of places. We don't have a receipt and when I went to return it today the lady says they need the receipt or some evidence of the date it was purchased. I believe...

I would p&m things like seeds and pods but not leaves.

I've never quite understood what the toasting brings. I would certainly bung them in when saying frying some onions and garlic.

Re: Bluetooth - have I been hacked?

From an article I googled: Turn off your phone's Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Hackers are religious about this. Keeping these features "on" all the time makes it easy for strangers to slip into your phone. The problem? If you keep Wi-Fi and Bluetooth active, hackers can see what networks you've co...

For blisters take one plaster and cut a hole in the middle the size of the blister, put over the wound. Then put another over the top.

Why can't she just a debit card? Because she's paranoid (or maybe has been trained to be by hubby) that if a miscreant gets her card details, her bank account could be emptied. One option she is thinking about is a second current account and debit card with only £250 deposited. --kiloran Does she r...
