Re: Disk @ 100%

Do you run Glary, Malwarebytes Revo Unistaller?

Sorry if I missed it but aside from performance are there any actual errors/diagnostics that show a problem?

Re: Boiler repair and repair insurance.

If I were you I would exercise any get out clause on your insurance (cooling off period?) This sort of insurance is seldom worthwhile. Much better to get your boiler serviced annually by a local outfit you can trust, and then if something goes wrong you can look to the local man with some confidenc...

Re: Anti-Virus protection software, again

What is the current view on anti-virus software. I am coming to the end of my subscription for McAfee, which I have used for several years, but I have now turned off my auto-renewal. Are free options just as effective? As can be seen from the chart above they are all paid or not paid much of a much...

Re: Google backup and sync

For many months this has been performing quietly in the background. Recently (about 2 weeks ago) it wanted me to sign in. I did so, but it just repeated the request. So I accessed signin (as suggested) via my browser instead and got the following: [Fiddler] The socket connection to localhost failed...

Re: Why not 2 run outs?

Isn't it like saying why can't a team score two goals. So score once, retreive the ball and score again?

You can't because the ball is now dead and the game needs to restart (when the new batsmen has entered the field).

Re: Toothpaste

what is the point of using toothpaste at all ?? i loathe it so just brush . what does toothpaste actually achieve? You don't need to use toothpaste. Some argue the fluoride is good but we have fluoride in our tap water so if you drink that you shouldn't need it. They have abrasives which supposedly...

Re: Toothpaste

Most toothpastes contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfate which is a chemical used in toothpaste to create the foaming action. SLS can cause or irritate existing allergies, canker sores and bad breath, which is why an SLS Free alternative is worth considering. I use Sensodyne for that reason as I am prone to ...

Re: Is now the right time to buy?

I think you are better off asking the question "Is now the wrong time to buy?".

Is the supply of properties, particularly in the locality you are buying, going to increase markedly, in the near term?
Can you foresee a shock of some kind in the near term that effects supply or demand?

Re: Snogging - betrayal or not?

Some relationships are more open than others. Indeed they are. I read this article recently. Can't get my head around it personally but that is my problem not there's I guess. I think it's the open and honest part that is critical. Finding out second hand, after the event rarely ends well. It's not...

Could this all be related. Have you tried emptying and fully defrosting? We do ours every couple of years.

How old is it?

Re: Snogging - betrayal or not?

Yesterday was my 13th wedding anniversary and we'd been together 5 years when we got married.

I've never snogged another woman in all that time and I am certain my wife hasn't either.

So for me, yes it's a betrayal.

Re: Luton Airport, why do we tolerate being treated like.....

What is the alternative? There are actually seven London airports: Heathrow, Gatwick, City, Stansted, Luton, London Southend and London Oxford. There is also Birmingham, East Midlands and Southampton within 100 miles or so of London. I'd pick any of them over Luton. But clearly others, including th...

Re: One step forward....

On a practical level... you need a plan... You are 55. Mortgage will be done when you are 60. By then the kids will be out of your hair. If they are not abandon them. I'd forget the £6k. It's gone. If by some miracle you get some back great. But assume you won't. What is the pension situation? Do yo...
