Re: What's your investment personality?

When I put in (what I intended to be) a crazy set of answers for a middle-aged female it came up with Vigilant Planner. Oops!

A big run up into and then the subsequent bursting of the dot-com bubble. That purchase was just after the peak it seems.

I am not on Twitter, some time back I did email him but only had the email address attached to the site. Ultimately he has done a lot for a lot of people and I just hope he is OK and in good health. It did not seem in character for the site to just close down with nothing said. If you check Mark's ...

Re: JP Morgan Elect Plc. Income or Growth? Poll.

Perhaps if I've missed "the point" it's because you haven't explained it, and re-parroting the question (which I did take time to read, thanks), doesn't do so, so I don't think I'll bother, thanks. mc2, Well I am not sure what is difficult to understand about making a choice of one of two...

Re: JP Morgan Elect Plc. Income or Growth? Poll.

Well neither is the option I'm choosing 'cos you haven't explained the circumstances of the purchaser, nor the purpose of the purchase (you might start with TR or income), nor why the choice is between these, despite the similarity in names, totally different vehicles; a global (well, half non-UK) ...

JP Morgan Elect Plc. Income or Growth? Poll.

Ignoring your own circumstances, looking forward at macro level for the next 5 years, assuming everything else is equal, with £20k which you must invest now, which would you opt for? JKX - wah gwaan?

London main market listed JKX https://www.jkx.co.uk/ has been living through some interesting times recently. Operating in Ukraine and Russia the old guard at JKX spent quite a lot of time and money trying to block voting from their major shareholder Eclairs as they feared there was a concert party ...

Re: Balfour Beatty 10.75% Cum Convertible Preference (BBYB)

Finally managed to talk to someone at iWeb, BBYB had been marked as 'Withdrawn'. This is "because it is convertible and so classed [by us] as a complex instrument, we don't want to increase our holding at this time". Suggesting that even if it were possible to get classed as experienced -...

Re: BT upgrade to fibre options

Today I got a phone call from BT saying that my standard copper broadband contract is ending and I should upgrade to fibre. I said I was happy to continue with what I've got but was told that only two options were available - Superfast Fibre Essential 30Mb or superfast fibre 50Mb. // The upgrade to...

Re: Anyone good with music systems out there?

If it repeats for a roughly similar period every five minutes or so (i.e. with some degree of regularity) it is likely an external cause. Check for something with a thermostat (or other switching device). It can just be grubby contacts or often when an electromechanical t/stat is coming to the point...

Re: HSDL again

Please don't. It may encourage them to mess with things and when they (on-line brokers in general) do that it usually makes things worse, in some cases much worse. :(

Re: ITV (ITV)

Britbox: A bit like public libraries, it's a good idea it (i.e. the content) should be available. But unless it's for peanuts (or funded by the licence fee) I'm not sure I can see why many would want to subscribe long term. Investment wise (ITV) I can see it could end up as more of a burden than a l...

Re: Dazzled by Jargon

For clarity, as of present, I believe this is correct: HSDL 'monthly cheap dealing' is £3.95/trade, manually executed, quantity or value defined, (not for intended for fractional purchases AFAIAA, not sure about sales), 12:15-14.15p.m., a 2hr period, for UK shares and all day (typically 0800hrs-2100...
