Re: Brexit and the Next Generation

Thanks for the thoughts re. my dads health. I and my siblings all voted remain, grandchildren too young. I have no idea why my father favours leaving the EU, I can see nothing real in his life that has been negatively impacted by being in the EU. I don't want to ask him because it would probably res...

Re: Brexit and the Next Generation

I have had the unusual situation of staying with my 86 year old father over the last week, he is a staunch labour voter and an ardent Brexiteer. It has been a very strange spectacle, watching the various politics programmes on TV with him and watching him supporting the likes of Rees Moog and There...

Re: House Sitting?

Have you considered house exchanges. That way you live in the house of the person who is living in your house. I did it once, had two weeks in a lovely barn conversion in Normandy complete with cat and dog!

I think they do this for continuity reasons and it means they can edit the shows any way they like.

Re: How will Brexit affect me and my Family?

Regarding population density in the UK being too high, perhaps this puts it into perspective: https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_population_density We're only number 53, although many of the higher ones are very small. In Europe Netherlands is at 31 and Germany at 56. If you wan...

Re: BREXIT

BBC Parliament TV is how one can see what was really said in Parliament and often the reasons behind it, rather than see or read misleading summaries on TV News or in the press. ;) For example, yesterday Theresa May gave her sound reasons behind why she wouldn't/couldn't postpone article 50 and why...

I don't think it's a clear cut case of mod bashing, as you seem to think. In fact, quash that one right away, I will put my money where my mouth is: I'm very happy to become a volunteer mod for a couple of weeks. Want to take me up on my offer? It's not my call but happy to forward your offer to st...

Re: HYP Purity (or, when does an HYP become not an HYP?)

This topic has been moved here from the Biscuit Bar but it should not be used to start yet another circular argument on what does or does not constitute a "legal" HYP. Also I have deleted the post from Ashfordian that uses this thread as an excuse to bash the moderators yet again. (I ...

Thanks for the heads up about getting a sparky to instal a new oven. We may replace ours and I was thinking of doing it myself, as one says, what can go wrong? john It's a pretty simple job if the connections are already in place and you are a reasonably competent person. Now things look to be going horribly wrong in every way, the ultimate response from Brexiteers is, "It's the losers fault".

You won, get over it.

Late to this and not a fan of Corbyn but, despite what some experts appear to be saying, I see his lips moving to say "people", after the jeering starts. Am I the only one on here who doesn't see "woman"? I don't see anything: I've only heard the incident reported. And since he ...
