Re: London November Social Report

Good see see everyone last night. My apologies for probably talking even more rubbish than usual since I had already been drinking for over 5 hours before I arrived so I made it a full 12 hours of drinking yesterday! Stooz and Clariman in one place at the same time...whatever next, perhaps peace wil...

Re: Fitted wardrobes question

The significant extra cost above the original quote is their problem not yours if they forgot to install what they had quoted for. I think you have two options - 1 - Make them fit what you they had quoted for - As this is what Mrs RS wants then whatever solution you come up with will she ever by ha...

Is anyone expecting to be there early doors?

Fitted wardrobes question

We have just had some fitted wardrobes installed in our bedroom. The wardrobes look great and in general we are happy with them. However when I was asked to sign off the job by the fitters, I noticed two shelves were missing and the LED lights had not been fitted. I contacted the supplier and they a...

Re: Officially turning into.....

On a slightly different tack I had to laugh at my stepson when he moved into his first rental share, turning into his parents. After many years of telling him to turn off lights...to no avail, on his first visit back to us he complained about the girlfriend of his flat share mate never switching off...

Re: Two fingers up to Ryanair!

Isn;t this what those of us that live in more rural areas call a "shooting jacket" with "poaching pockets" ? Top effort though. id be concerned Id be of interest to airport security than Ryanair checkin staff. And now its a video on line etc its only a matter of time before ryan...

Re: outside light/cctv

I have an outside light that is hard-wired in to an internal switch. I don't use this light any more, having put up a solar-powered jobbie, but I would like to get a cctv camera, is there any reason why I can't use the existing wiring for the light to run the camera? I would say that as long as you...

Re: Mine (and your) Room101 exhibits

I used to think that a brioche bun with a burger was wrong but now most quality burgers come in brioche buns...perhaps not as sweet as a tradition brioche though.

Re: Mine (and your) Room101 exhibits

it is the so called mini roundabout that gets me (that is, those painted on the road) No one seems to treat them as roundabouts and most drivers simply drive straight over them. This despite it being a specific offence to do so (one of the MUST NOT rules in the Highway Code). Scott. Having just bee...

Re: My guilty secret(s)

5 MTBs does seem like 4 more than necessary. Though it’s nice to hear of some classy old frames still going strong! One thing that I have found to be very true as I settle into middle age is that the things that you own, end up owning you. Just keeping all those chains oiled and tyres pumped seems ...

Re: Musk endeavours

I am confused here. Many cars are fitted with autonomous emergency braking systems along with adaptive cruise control which seem one of the easiest step to full autonomous driving capability, even my bottom of the range VW Gold has these fitted as standard. Yet here we seem to be saying that precise...

Hi RS If you are asking me it is more those that I have visited than am missing. I am much more at home in the Far East I am afraid. Dod Apologies for the ambiguity...my question was aimed more at Lootman and asking "which state have you not been to?" I love some things about the US but I...

Re: The Computer Will See You Now

I was not denying your recall of a single anecdote. I was giving a broader background based on my having spent time 49 of the 50 states in the US. You have 'spent time' in 49 of the 50 States? I presume you mean 'have visited'? In itself that is quite a claim. If I were you I would add the 50th jus...

Re: Musk endeavours

Then I am reminded of Trump saying he wants more US manufacturing and wonder if some British politician might take up the banner, with the weak £ now seems a good time to start making more stuff here. I too was reminded of that when I read today that three times as many jobs were offshored during t...
