Re: HSBC (HSBA)

How on earth can a bank or any other business get rid of 10,000 staff without it effecting the everyday running of the company and if they can why didn't the management notice they were massively overstaffed some time ago and started cutting back much earlier, surly somebody at the top didn’t just w...

Re: AstraZeneca: Where Has All the Cash Gone?

Good on you Ian, I very nearly sold out AstraZeneca a few weeks ago based on the article as it appears to make a lot of sense also the yield is now well under 4% however what do I replace it with, already own the popular HY shares also so many of them seem to be under threat from a Labour government...

Re: Stamp duty on FTSE 100 Companies

Many thanks for your replies, it does seem odd paying Irish stamp duty for a FTSE 100 company however it's only a small additional cost that will pale into insignificance in a few years when the share price doubles ..lol

Stamp duty on FTSE 100 Companies

I bought FTSE 100 company Smurfit Kappa Group shares for the wife's AJ Bell YouInvest ISA account and on checking the contract found she was charged 1% stamp duty on the purchase instead of the normal 0.05% as their “View Costs” web page showed when I placed the order I queried the extra cost and in...

Re: Topped up South32

On checking, the two April special dividends are included in figures and while the main dividend did increase this year the the special was not very special

05 April 18 ..$0.43 plus Special $0.30 = $0.73
04 April 19 ..$0.51 plus Special $0.17 = $0.68

Resting my eyes after a couple of sunset cocktails at the office on Baga beach and was woken by a tremendous crash, looked around and all seemed normal so logged on to my HYP Sipp and discovered Rio Tinto’s dividend had landed in the account, must say it has made my weekend
