Re: My blog

I decided I would write a blog. Plus, I thought I was signing up to £8 per month - but £200 zoomed off my credit card, which is for two years. That's ok but it was not what I intended. It also makes me sound incompetent, which generally I am not.Thank you. Is it via the 'official' Wordpress web sit...

Re: Office of Tax Simplification Inheritance Tax Review

The exemption for regular gifts should be reformed or replaced with a higher personal gift allowance. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/ots-inheritance-tax-review-simplifying-the-design-of-the-tax Looks like more taxation to me unless the personal gift allowance is raised substantially - a...

Re: IHT 403 gift annual exemption calculations

I know it is off-topic, but these allowances are unchanged for decades unlike most others and these small amounts are now causing tremendous difficulties and costs for executors. A waste of time lobbying MPs at the moment but, as soon as Brexit (or not) is over, make a point to do some lobbying. htt...

Re: Solar PV power levels

Our 4kW solar panel installation has been generating about 4kWh/day over the past month, according to its meter. Is that in line with what others have been seeing? If so it's not very impressive. Very very long payback time.GS How are you monitoring? This my http://www.bdpv.fr graph for a 4kWp syst...

Re: Facebook's currency: Implications for Banking

It will be excellent if people can use an independent reliable and practical currency and not one open to state manipulation and depreciation. It will take a lot of power away from incompetent governments, which will be excellent. And if someone hacks the computer(s) and makes off with more million...

Re: Blocked Calls On Landline

If using 1572 What annoys me is that when you 1471 a dodgy call to get the number, if you test it by dialling it back, you get "the number you have dialled has not been recognised". Why then won't BT decline to connect in the first place? Particularly if it's one of the automated messages...

Re: Home Alarm maintenance contract

Does anyone have good or bad experiences in addressing the same problem ? My solution was to take the battery out and stop using it. I came to the conclusion that alarms on houses are no longer useful as nobody pays any attention to them, so what was the point. A decent alarm will have a dialler or...

Re: Cellotex Fire Hazard ?

Most of us have domestic appliances and these are the cause of many fires - 60 per week according to this article:- https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-43056887 However, the manufacturers must comply with CE standards to sell in the EU so it is those standards that appear to be lacking. Re: So long Plusnet, where next

Having wasted over an hour not getting through to Plusnet to have my price hike reviewed, it's time to move on. Technically, it has been fine, but any company that takes over 40 minutes to deal with a customer enquiry is not doing its job properly. So... who next? Talk Talk is out of the question, ...
