Quoting other posters - new limits and guidance

The automatic quote facility on the boards is very useful, because it provides an easy way of making it clear to whom you are replying - or precisely which text you are replying to. However, it can cause problems.
Many levels of nested quotations are really hard to read and it is a lazy way of responding. The site has allowed up to 5 levels of quotation but this has now been reduced to 2.
In an effort to reduce the amount of quoted text some users edit out the bits they don't want. Great idea, but it can cause problems if you don't take care to ensure the correct HTML tags are in the right place. On one recent topic, two posters were careless with this and each attributed text to the wrong poster when replying.
Reducing the quotation levels to 2 will minimise the chances of this happening. However, please ensure that you take great care when editing the quoted text and HTML tags. The responsibility still lies with you the poster.
