Sound advice. I would also add that if you find yourself making more than two or three posts to a thread then you probably are part of the problem. Either you can't get your point across however many times you post or the person(s) you are replying to will never take your views on board so you should just ignore them (or, worse, they are actively trolling you so continuing to reply is feeding them).

One site I was on more than a decade ago had a rule that no one poster could make more than 25% of the posts on a given topic.

For some TLF is a discussion board with occasional visits and postings. For others it is a daily chatroom, albeit with a relatively small number of members. Just 5 Lemons are responsible for over 10% of all posts.
