This seems to be spectacularly unattractive for cash savings in "term" accounts, e.g. 5-year fix at 1.95% rather than 2.5%+ elsewhere

Online stockbroker says cash savings service is targeted at 'time savers, not the rate chasers' as banks reserve best deals for direct customers.
I'll give it a miss then!

I'm not doubting 1.95% was showing when you first posted but, unless I'm mistaken, I can only see a maximum of a 3 year term and 1.75% now.

Indeed - 5-year terms are not available at present.
For 3-year fixed rates, 1.75% is utterly hopeless.
