It seems there is a general move for banks and BS to remove free banking on accounts for charities and NFP organisations (eg a local CAMRA branch, scout troop).
The charges may be circa £5 a month I hear, so £60 a year.
Are there any accounts that anyone is aware of that continue to provide free banking for this sort of account ?
cheers

PS Its not my intention to create a debate over the rights or wrongs of such a change in banking practise. Mine is a simple query to which the answer "No - there are none" is of course acceptable if that is the case.

Our residents' association, which is actually a limited by guarantee management company (i.e. not-for-profit), has a Lloyds Treasurer's account, which is free.

Rather curiously that page says they have "temporarily stop accepting Treasurer’s Account applications from customers looking to switch their banking to us", but the page appears to allow totally new applications, which is a bit strange ...

I run a Barclays account for a local association which carries no charges. My Probus Club was with HSBC and has moved to NatWest, where there are no charges. Another society of which I am a member has done likewise.

Out of interest, where did you hear/see this? (As the chair of a small community NFP group, I like to keep abreast of developments )

AGM last week of a local NFP organisation, reported by the treasurer, agreed by the chair. Of course the chair may have learned this from the treasurer. i wasn't going to rock the boat with my own ignorance but did think that seemed a tad odd "all of a sudden". Apparently our current bank a/c has gone this way. There appears to be a general acceptance of £60 a year changes, but Im uncomfortable with that without investigating etc.

Metro bank recently redesigned their website
Why they didn't test it is beyond me
To begin with you couldn't make a payment
and to this day you still can't set up a new payee
I have had to call several times and they just don't seem interested in fixing it
Only open an account if you have a lot of patience
