Recently for online payments there is a step where you verify the name of the account holder you are paying when you set up a payee.
With RBS and Lloyds if the name is slightly wrong, it gives you the correct name and asks you to correct it. However with Santander just now, it simply listed the name I enetered in red and said it was wrong, gave no indication how wrong, and had a "proceed anyway" option.
Has this changed, or are Santander just being a bit lax?

Re: Accountholder Verification
I think with my bank (First Direct) it will give you the account name if what you put in almost* matches, but if it's completely wrong it doesn't.
* - how it calculates "almost" I don't know

Re: Accountholder Verification
A couple of weeks ago (with Santander) I entered 'F BLOGGS', and it told me the name on the account should be 'FRED BLOGGS'. So I guess it depends on just how much the name you enter differs from the correct account name.
