Nationwide rebrand with new pigeon logo

I'm not sure why, but Nationwide are rolling out a new rebrand...

Why a pigeon though, I'm assuming its a pigeon - somehow it looks too small to be a falcon and too big to be any smaller garden bird?

Also by outlining it in red it kinda makes me think they shot the pigeon and it is lying there in a pool of blood

Are they trying to tell us something?

Other opinions:
Justin Moy, managing director at EHF Mortgages, said: “At first glance, it has a resemblance to NatWest’s logo. Perhaps we should call them NatWide in future?”
Stephen Perkins, managing director at Yellow Brick Mortgages, agreed: “Aside from looking awfully like NatWest, the tag line of a good way to bank for a mutual that has said for years that they aren’t a bank is crazy.

I saw it as a Pacman eating a house! Not sure where the OP sees a pigeon though...

I thought it looked like the outline of a house with a 3/4 moon hanging over it ;), but whatever it is - it's ugly!

The Nationwide logo is a prototype of a bank card and symbolizes working with money. The emblem demonstrates the turnover of investments and savings, improving customers’ quality of life. Symbols hint – that the company will help build a practical and comfortable home.

I didnt get that either. To me it seemed like it was designed by someone who doesn't know about capital letter, probably sacked from Standard Life Aberdeen. :D Yes its just like Nat West, So much so that I had to seperate the icons on my phone.

The house and the tree dont look anything like that now. It looks like a lobsided pacman!

If they want to return back to the old one Im happy to vote for that, Twice!

I see it as a 3D house with the sun setting behind it, with the front of the house lit by the setting sun. How does that work then?

Scott.

No, it's a 3D house with a full moon behind it, with the front of the house illuminated by the sun

I think it's the sun setting on your ability to afford a mortgage.

Trouble with that is that the sun’s already “behind” the house. But yes, I also see it 3D.

Definitely Pacman eating a house. It symbolises repossession.

It could be a pie chart with a big arrow indicating how much of your disposable income will go on servicing a Nationwide mortgage

So in some people's list of apps, there will now be alongside each other:

-NatWest
-Nationwide
-Netflix

All in red.

They haven't thought this through, have they?

Red is bad. Blue is worse. Outlook, SkyGo, various authenticators, onedrive, park4night, fitbit, Signal and my good old text message icon - all slightly different shades of blue.

<sigh>. Life is just so damn complicated.....

like it or not...whatever it is!

and clearly many see if differently with all these views

but
the purpose of any advert or logo is to get people talking and to be recognised for who it 'represents'

seems to be working.........

Trouble with that is that the sun’s already “behind” the house. But yes, I also see it 3D.

So it seems the logo is meant to be a rising sun behind a house. Doesn't explain how the light illuminates the front of the house.

It must be really good security lighting. You're safe with nationwide.
