Lloyds withdrawing paper statments
I got an email about my 94yo mothers Lloyds account "We’re experiencing some issues and may not be able to send as many by post as we normally do", and saying she could only get statements digitally. I rang to complain, as mum is completely computer illiterate, and am not convinced that "putting a note on her account" will work. If they do withdraw paper statements, I will get her to close the account. Like her, I like paper statements I can scribble on to reconcile, and file for years.

I've just had a similar email from Halifax regarding credit card statements. It sounds very odd.

Re: Lloyds withdrawing paper statments
They are a bit coy about the reasons for the switch to online only statements, but it seems it may only be a temporary change.
From my own email from Lloyds:
We appreciate you normally receive your statements by post, and I’m sorry if this change causes you any issues. We’ll let you know as soon as we’re able to offer you paper statements again.
Weeks ? Months ?

Re: Lloyds withdrawing paper statments
I suspect after years of pleading, they are forcing people to change, and hoping that only a few will complain and ever need to be switched back to paper again. They think the rest will be unexpectedly happy with their digital solution, whereas in fact they will grumble and do nothing, but the bank's bottom line improves.

Re: Lloyds withdrawing paper statments
If you do not have an online account (current or credit card) then online statements are not an option anyway.
I think if you make a big fuss they will relent. Like others here I prefer paper statements. Much easier to flick through old paper statements looking for an item rather than online files and apps. Better for tax stuff too.
And I have too many passwords already. Not to mention the 2FA pain in the backside.

I haven't.
Then again I'm pretty sure they don't have my email address, and I don't have an online account with them

It's not just Lloyds it's the whole of the Lloyds banking group....its Lloyds, Halifax, Bank of Scotland.
I don't have a printer......don't want one......so they won't be getting my business if they stop sending paper docs.

Yes, there was one institution that kept trying to roll me over to online statements. They did not have an email address for me but kept trying to get me to give them mine. I knew that as long as they did not have it, they could not convert me to online. And so it happened - am still getting monthly paper statements 2/3 years later.
Name, rank, serial number, address, phone number, nothing else!

About the same as the value of a bank holding my cash and paying me no interest on it?

Re: Lloyds withdrawing paper statments
How is my executor meant to cope if there are no paper statements? Cheeky buggers. I'm tempted to open a new account to get the cashback and then "migrate" us to another bank. Any recommendations?

Good point. It underlines the need to leave a digital appendage to one's will, so the executor will know what's where and how to get access.
Stockbrokers too.... ii do not send paper contract notes any more, I even had to print off the annual tax thingummy.
After I got fed up with remembering or not to print my contract notes, I rang - one has to ring - and asked them to start sending by paper again. For which I pay £1.50 a pop.
I dare say the day will come when it will be routine to be charged for paper anything.

I had the same email last night from Lloyds and from MBNA. Though I did just get a credit card statement from Lloyds today. Maybe my last.

They send proof they are executor which allows them to receive copy statements.

Nationwide do paper statements was going to be my reply but then since the rebranding it looks like they spent too much so we get some sort of tracing paper statements now.

The last paper statement I received from Nationwide was March 2021. As far as I recall they gave me no choice.
