From the same source but also here https://www.nsandi.com/income-bonds:

Income Bonds reducing to 0.70% gross/0.70% AER (from 1 May 2020).

Oh dear indeed.

So the govt. doesn't want to borrow our money which must mean serious tax hikes as they are going to need loads to finance all their expensive projects, flood damage, etc etc.

Or they figure that it won't make any difference to the number of people "investing" in Premium Bonds so why pay more than they need to.

I don't suppose I'll be selling any of mine.

Blow for 21million Premium Bond holders as NS&I wields the axe - with HALF as many people winning £50 and £100 prizes from May

This is Money

We will have to see what the effects are for the £25 prizes. More details here:

The cuts reduce the effective prize fund rate of Premium Bonds, which do not pay interest, to 1.3 per cent a year, and the odds of any one bond winning a prize from 24,500 to 1 to 26,000 to 1.

Expected return on maximum current holding now 1.15%

(12 * 50,000/26,000) = 23.08

23 * 25/50000 = 1.15%

5*£25 = £125 for March across £100k (£50k each spouse). Returns of 1.4% and 1.2% overall in 2019. Did hit a £50k prize in 2017 so still content to hold as you never know.

Fantastic! I have just heard I've won £100k. What a relief now all my divs. are being axed and my shares have devalued horrendously. Perhaps my luck has finally changed.

I wish! No it hasn't. April Fool!

I'll think myself lucky if I get a £25 prize. Good luck everyone.

Oh dear! Does one have to do it before Noon? If I knew that I'd forgotten, which won't surprise you. Oh well, I was just trying to raise the odd smile in these grim circs. Back to counting the divs. I won't be getting.
