Me too, nothing on a full holding but my son has won £125 on £10k and he has won a lot more than I have over the last year. On the plus side, if my "investing" had protected my capital over the last six months in the way PB's have, I would be very happy indeed.

But in any event, PB's are not an investment, they are, IMHO a safe haven for shorter term cash - with a minuscule chance of winning something significant (we live in hope).

They are certainly not an investment but I had entertained the slight hope that I might get lucky for once and win something that might make a significant (or even a small) compensation for the huge losses I have sustained in my equity p/fs this year. Not enough prizes to go round for those in that boat, I should imagine.

Happy New Year!

I don't know if the gardeners are cheaper there but I have "won" £25 for mine this month (me). That puts me at £525 for the current tax year to date. You still have time to catch up.

No idea what gardeners charge in Essex but I did notice quite a large number of Essex residents in the big prizes list and not a single one in Bucks. where I live. Now you come to mention gardeners, however, it would have been nice to have won another £50 to pay my chap for raking up yet another car load of leaves, having run out of composting space. I must have spent several hundred pounds on the damn things this year as they got too wet to blow to the edges.

Don't worry x-fool; she's completely wrong. I spent over £1000 a few years ago on my share of cutting a few dead branches off an ancient oak and since more have now died off, I had a quote for cutting the whole tree down: £3k+. I have several in my garden and lots more surrounding it (whose leaves end up in mine) and I wouldn't be allowed to cut them down unless dead/dying anyway. There are also some ash trees which generate thousans of seedlings which have to be removed every year. Time to move to a flat, perhaps.

£75 on full holdings for Mrs Grumpy and me.

A couple of years ago I had our local arborist and his team in as a storm had blown over a massive Ash Tree and put others at risk of falling on the road. They took down about 40 trees of varying sizes and sawed most of it up for us - total cost about £4,500. That included lots of hanging on ropes with chain saws and using a stump grinder. We now have enough firewood to last at least 25 years, and still have many hundreds of trees left. Excellent value!

Amazing. Where do you live? I can't even get our council to do anything about the forest of ash saplings which have sprung up on the unmaintained verges and are now overhanging the road, but we are O.T. so had better shut up.

East Herts.

There are still reasonable and competent tree surgeons here. It did make it easier that we have a large garden so the trees could all be felled to fall on our land. If you are by a road or with limited spaces they have to slice off bits of the tree limb by limb, which is very expensive compared to just cutting through the trunk and then chain sawing it up once it has fallen. Our arborist said it was difficult in suburban areas as they often had to have men just standing in the road to direct traffic etc.

Hmm, I had a very large eucalyptus cut down a few years ago, less than 3 years ago, and it was £80 and that included logging it for the fire.

Ash is a bit of a pain. I got the council to pollard the acers outside my house last year and that minimised the leaf fall last autumn.

Heads up that this month's results are coming out Saturday 2nd February. They quote "usually second working day of the month" when I think they really mean "the day after the first working day".

Typically they come out not long after (or sometimes slightly before) midnight (Friday night / Saturday morning).

Scott.

Sadly, that list doesn't include me. Mara Man: have you had a phone call and are you on the list. If so, I hope it was a big one.

I suppose I will now have to wait till the 4th to find out that I have won zilch again.

Well their Facebook account said 3 hours ago "the full results are released tomorrow" https://www.facebook.com/PremiumBonds/

This matches what the App is saying on my Android phone.

Yes, that's quite normal, they come out a day earlier than the full results.

Well the February results are out, and we won our usual smattering of £25 prizes.

As I write, they're available at the online prize checker, but not through the app. I'm sure that'll sort itself out soon.

Actually there seems to be something a bit strange going on.

For me, the online prize checker says I've won 2 x £25, but the prize history in my online account only shows 1 x £25 for February.

Meanwhile the app is saying "sorry there is a problem, try later".

Scott.
