How does demotivating those who provide housing "fix the housing market"?

Point of Order...

"Provide" housing?

Houses (broadly) remain available for use as accommodation regardless of who owns/provides them. O-O or investors.

The root problem is the (inadequate) size of the stock.

Edit to add:
Getting back on topic for the board, I remain invested as I don't see any political party fixing this in a hurry.

Houses might remain available for other types of accommodation but not necessarily for rent.

As more BTL get sold to others there are less rentable stock for those that want to rent. The swing against all those "vile" landlords has not helped renters one bit.

Section 21 issues has just pushed many into even shorter term let's like Airbnb.

Unfortunately I don't see things getting much better for either side. The reform was likely to result in two new generations. Rent and would like to rent but cant get access anymore.

Good luck to the last landlord left.

It depends whether it gets through the "wash-up". See https://www.lawgazette.co.uk/news/updat ... 12.article
