House Sitting?

#195786

Postby HarryCat » January 23rd, 2019, 10:06 am

Does anybody have experience of house sitting or the various house sitting web sites?
We are a 50ish couple who have paid of the mortgage and are going to escape the stress of jobs and London for a year or so and are looking for ways to reduce our living costs whilst travelling.
We have somebody to pet/house sit for us whilst we are away.

Have you considered house exchanges. That way you live in the house of the person who is living in your house. I did it once, had two weeks in a lovely barn conversion in Normandy complete with cat and dog!

I have used the WWOOF scheme a couple of times. i.e. Willing Workers on Organic Farms - one exchanges ones "work" for food and accommodation.

. . . you will find that there is whole new world out there . . . . http://wwoof.net/

I have also done a couple of HelpX stays . . .. one of which was a whole year looking after a smallholding in northern france . . .

Say goodbye to Groundhog day . . . .
