Like, I suspect,many fellow Fools, I have a Senior Railcard, and I use it a lot. It pays for itself in no time.

According to the reviews "... you can phone railcard on 03456 050 525 and give Tesco promo code to renew without any hassle."

However, a word of warning. You can get a 3 year card for £70, so in the first year there would be no real saving, and you'd only save money over a 3 year period if the scheme was still running after a year.

It's already been running for several years.

Go deaf in one ear. Now you are "disabled" for railcard purposes.

£20 a year gets you 30% reduction for you AND an accompanying "carer". And has extended hours/cover for services over other railcards (I am told).
Usually the savings on our first rail trip of a year covers the cost of the railcard.

Also, if you have an Annual Gold Card (pretty much any 12 month travelcard in the London area), you get the Annual Gold Card discounts in the Annual Gold Card Discount area. See https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/times_fares/ticket_types/46573.aspx for full details.

PLUS you can buy any railcard for £10. I get the Family and Friends one, because I go outside this area with my small person frequently, but you can also get a Network Railcard for a friend if you only travel within the discount area and they can make use of it.

Hubby (12 years older than me) has had a senior rail card for the last seven or eight years (paid for using Tesco Club Card vouchers). Our neighbour pointed out last summer that a "Two Together" card is the same price (and can be paid for using Club Card vouchers) and gives us both the same discount provided we are travelling together.

Ah, "Two Together " - that's what the card is called!

Meant to say that neither of us has to be over 60 to buy this card. I'm kicking myself as we'd have saved a lot if I'd known earlier.

Devon County Council will issue residents with a code for 6% off.

Worth checking if your council does this. Other organisations may also do this.
