I've been using a water filter jug for years.
This is far cheaper and morally better than bottled water. Also, it tastes better than water direct from the tap.
However, the price of the cartridges seems to be about double what it was in 2020.
For years, I was using the Wilko round cartridges, which fitted the Brita jugs (round type).
These were made in Estonia and they worked well. Now Wilko have switched to a Chinese supplier and put the price up. So that's 2 reasons to look elsewhere.
Does anyone have a recommendation ?

Re: Water Filters
Sorry, cant help you with your question, but I drink water straight from the tap (via a glass/flask for the pendants out there). Its maybe a question for a separate thread, but do a lot of people filter UK drinking water?

In hard water regions like London, a filter jug is necessary unless you want to be de-furring your kettle on a daily basis.
To mix with my vodka, however, I'm okay with tap water.
Otherwise, don't touch the stuff.

Re: Water Filters
My wife bought a lot of filters in bulk from "Aqua Optima".
https://www.aqua-optima.com/product/uni ... er-filter/
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Aqua-Optima-RU ... tchen?th=1
12 off for £22.78 (£1.89 each). Free delivery.
No problems with these filters, removes the horrible metallic taste in our Midlands water.

Re: Water Filters
I fitted one of these many years ago and did so again when we moved to the current house. Fairly simple DIY job and the water does taste a lot better.
The filters for these have also gone up a LOT - they do do a version with a separate tap so you can just use it for drinking water which would make the filters last a lot longer (change ours every 6 - 9 months). Ours set up filters all the water to the kitchen cold tap so quite a lot of filtered water currently being used for washing up, washing hands etc. which isn't really needed.

I drink it straight from the tap. Our tap water here happens to be soft(*) and quite nice.
But I'm aware that the taste of tap water varies across the country, with hardness/softness and other differences. And some properties have plumbing that do it (and you) no favours. So if you prefer to filter it, who am I to judge?
(*) My kettle has been in regular use since the late 1990s, and never a trace of scale.

Re: Water Filters
In my experience a lot of the knock off brands, just don't last as long, you can tell by looking at the design, they don't contain as much charcoal (or whatever the filter is made of).
When Sainsburys have the 3 packs on sale they work out to about £3 each which is cheaper than the larger multi packs

Well, never after breakfast, obviously.
