I'm following on from this post on a thread that was soo wandering that I thought a new one would be more useful.

Free electricity when the grid is greenest

Get paid to use less energy when the grid is dirtiest in Saving Sessions

Has anyone opted in to this? The rewards are not enticing e.g. free drink at Gregg's

We are on Octoplus, and have activated and earned some points, however there are big differences between the phone App and the website.

On the App I can see the Greggs Offer, and sometimes get a "Saving Session" notification, but have never seen anything about the free energy sessions (I did try and set the batteries to Export at the last saver session but they didn't, so I need to investigate the settings further). But what I can't see on the App is the 'free spi' to get points.

On the PC website I get free spins (without inputting readings as they're from the smart meter) but get no email notifications. There is also some blurb about signing up to a Whatsapp feed but I couldn't get it to work on the phone.

But the thing of main interest are the 'free energy' sessions. Has anyone had any notifications about these, and if so how did they arrive?

Thanks

Paul

The free electricity is only available to those in certain parts of the country, which tend to be places where the main renewable generation is, and where Octopus has done a deal with the grid to offer it - the original press release - https://octopus.energy/press/free-whizz ... ind-blows/

And the sign up pages if you are in the appropriate post codes and have a smart meter -

https://octopus.energy/power-ups/ which is for the east of England and they get free electricity

https://octopus.energy/power-ups-scotland/ which is Scotland and they get half price electricity (no idea why the difference)
